The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst is responsible for working closely with internal and external customers to gather business requirements for new and existing projects, in order to facilitate translating those requirements into technical solutions. The incumbent works closely with other technical and development staff to represent the end users’ business needs from project inception to project completion.
The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst works with intermittent supervision and review and has defined decision-making authority for utilizing independent judgment in the resolution of normal or routine work problems within the scope of authority and responsibility for the position, at a location assigned by management. The incumbent will provide recommendations for resolution alternatives to the supervisor for review and direction on those work problems involving departures from standard policies, practices and interpretations, or procedures.
The primary goal of the El Rio Health Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst is to support El Rio’s Mission of providing comprehensive, quality health care that is affordable and accessible to all who may have healthcare needs, by successfully performing the primary essential functions.
Essential Job Functions:
Leads requirements gathering sessions, analyzes requirements, designs, and develops analytical projects working closely together with users, finding the best possible solution to a given business problem
Elicits requirements using interviews, requirements meetings, surveys, document analysis, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, workflow analysis, and any other appropriate methodologies
Leads the development of metrics, dashboards, and reports using commonly accepted BI tools
Serves as a liaison between the business organization and the Analyst team; works with Architects/DBAs/Developers/etc. as necessary to translate business needs and questions into technical solutions
Works closely and cooperatively with development/support team on product design; makes recommendations for changes to enhance support and usability
Presents recommendations regarding data architecture, strategy requirements, and scale of information that is required for the organization
Validates that data warehouses/data marts meet user requirements and service-level agreements
Assists with creating end-user training and documentation
Serves as an informational resource and Subject Matter Expert (SME) to internal/external clients and external organizations or agency representatives for software and technical matters related to Electronic Health Records, workflows, reporting/dashboard requirements, and other related issues
Presents information using data visualization techniques
Meets established time frames and rates of performance for the quality and quantity of work for the position
Demonstrates a high level of technical expertise, quality, efficiency, and accuracy in the employee’s job performance
Demonstrates an exceptional level of customer service; answering and responding to all incoming calls, emails, and inquiries in a timely and effective manner, responding to assigned Help Desk tickets and/or ad-hoc requests for support providing information and resolution to these technical inquiries or complaints
Provides timely educational feedback to internal clients to improve the understanding and individual performance regarding identified errors or deficiencies
Effectively interacts with department heads and other internal clients regarding the implementation of, and compliance with, changes to systems operational requirements and/or standards
Participates in the effective and efficient communication and distribution of information with organizational leadership and end-users that fosters and maintains an effective and collaborative understanding between the Analyst team and Clinical Operations
Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Supports El Rio by participating in community events which promote good health and which contribute to a broader awareness and understanding of El Rio Health and the many services provided to the community.
Participates in all appropriate health care activities related to El Rio Health on a local, state, and national level to maintain and enhance El Rio’s image with health agencies, professional associations, and the public.
Ensures and supports the cost effective use of materials, supplies, and equipment by limiting waste of all organizational supplies and resources.
Employees must maintain their skills proficiency with El Rio operating systems and/or software programs by adapting to changing requirements and successfully learning and demonstrating new skills in response to software, system, and program improvements or upgrades.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management Information System, Computer Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Three (3) years’ experience working with T-SQL, Power BI, statistical analysis and other applications.
If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.
Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must comply with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.
Active Epic Certification in Cogito Tools Administration (recently expired may be considered).
Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities:
Master’s Degree in Business, Management Information System, Computer Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Five (5) years’ experience working in a Healthcare environment with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Five (5) years’ experience working with T-SQL, Power BI, statistical analysis, and other applications.
Epic Clarity Data Model Certification
Epic Cogito Project Manager Certification
Epic Clinical Data Model Certification
Epic Revenue Data Model Certification
Epic Caboodle Data Model Certification
Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to speak, read and write in both languages.
