Job Duties and Responsibilities

This role addresses the complex challenge of aligning multi-cloud infrastructure consumption with corporate financial governance and business unit economics. The position requires bridging the gap between engineering execution and financial oversight, resolving opaque billing structures to establish a single, reliable source of truth. By designing automated cost optimization workflows and managing strategic usage commitments, the objective is to eliminate cloud spend waste while maintaining operational agility. Ultimately, this function ensures that rapid technology scaling remains financially sustainable and directly tied to strategic business value.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives)

  • Architect the financial "translation layer" to map raw cloud consumption and on-premises infrastructure to business-facing service units and products.

  • Lead the financial lifecycle of cloud consumption, from initial capacity planning and workload onboarding to long-term usage commitments and discount instrument management.

  • Design and oversee automated workflows and AI-driven predictive modeling for real-time anomaly detection, resource right-sizing, and proactive commitment management.

  • Partner with DevOps, Network Engineering, and Supply Chain to align technical roadmaps with financial constraints, utilizing configuration management data to ensure 100% asset transparency.

  • Present high-impact financial insights and unit-economic narratives to senior leadership to drive strategic investment trade-offs and meet departmental OKRs.

  • Strengthen financial processes and internal controls for cloud expenditures, software licensing, and labor capitalization, ensuring strict adherence to GAAP and regulatory standards.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Core Skills and Competencies

  • Expert mastery of cloud-native cost management tools and multi-cloud environments to optimize diverse infrastructure portfolios.

  • Deep understanding of cloud services, including compute, storage, databases, and containerization, to strategically influence cost and resource allocation.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and data lakehouse environments to execute complex, large-scale usage analyses.

  • Strong skills in synchronizing disparate spend data across procurement, asset management, and financial planning systems to maintain a single source of truth.

  • AI Application skills, specifically the ability to leverage modern machine learning and generative tools to automate anomaly detection, predictive forecasting, and cost optimization workflows.

  • Proven experience leading financial analysis and cloud operations within complex, multi-entity technology environments.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Minimum Experience: 8 years of experience in financial analysis and cloud operations.

  • Required Technical Skills: Must have at least 8 years of experience with:

    • Cloud-native cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Budgets, CUR) and multi-cloud environments

    • SQL and Python for cloud usage and data analysis

    • FinOps principles and standards (FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst is required)

  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree or MBA in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
