What you'll do...

This individual will be responsible for overseeing/managing the Switching & Yard Management Operations for several VO, Powertrain and/or Stamping Plants. This includes participation in generating the Statement of Work, trouble-shooting issues, compiling and understanding performance metrics and helping to drive cost savings / process improvements.

The Yard Management Logistics Analyst will have responsibility for the following items:

Data Collection & Validation

  • Gather data from yard management systems (YMS), RTLS, CMMS, Blue Yonder and other sources.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of yard-related data (e.g., trailer locations, gate entries, dwell times, yard capacities).

Reporting and Process Optimization

  • Create and maintain reports and records that monitor key yard metrics (e.g., trailer dwell time, yard throughput, gate-to-gate time).
  • Deliver daily/weekly/monthly reports to operations, logistics, and management teams.
  • Recommend changes/improvements based on operational needs.

Performance Analysis

  • Analyze trends in yard utilization, turnaround times, bottlenecks, and traffic patterns.
  • Identify underused assets, delays, and inefficiencies.
  • Support continuous improvement
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical teams.

Forecasting & Modeling

  • Use historical YMS data as well as inputs from other teams to assess the impact in yard for new model vehicles, new operating patterns and changes in JPH.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Forward Model, MFE, Plant Material Handling and Ford Land, to understand timing as well as changes that may impact trailer volumes held in the yard

System Implementation & Training

  • Support YMS implementation for any new or remaining sites
  • 2025 will focus on Powertrain & Stamping Sites
  • Provide on-site training to new employees or on new system enhancements

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of professional work experience in Logistics, Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Experience managing projects and/or system implementations
  • Individuals must be self-starters that do not require excessive direction and can work in a manufacturing environment
  • This could mean night shift, weekends and occasional holidays
  • Must be comfortable working with an hourly workforce (Forklift Drivers, Clerks, Truck Drivers, etc.)
  • This position will require a degree of travel up to 50% through 2026 but less starting in 2027.

Even better, you may have...

  • Alteryx and other more advanced systems knowledge a plus
