About the business/role/team
The Data and Artificial Intelligence Governance Manager is a key role within the Knowledge Management Department’s Information and Data Governance section. In this position, you will help shape, embed and champion best practice data and AI governance across the Bank, enabling the responsible use of data and artificial intelligence to support strategic priorities, operational excellence and informed decision-making.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Information and Data Governance, you will play a leading role in strengthening the Bank’s data governance capabilities and advancing its AI governance framework. You will work collaboratively across the organisation to promote effective governance practices, manage risk, and foster a culture of accountability, innovation and trust in the use of data and AI.
About the role
Lead data management and governance initiatives across the Bank, driving the adoption of best-practice data governance frameworks, standards and controls.
Develop, implement and continuously improve AI governance practices, ensuring the responsible, ethical and risk-aware use of artificial intelligence technologies.
Provide expert advice on data and AI governance, including governance frameworks, risk management, regulatory considerations and emerging industry practices.
Support and oversee governance arrangements for citizen developers (business coders), enabling innovation while maintaining appropriate controls, oversight and compliance
Lead a team of Coordinating Data Stewards, driving consistent data governance practices and supporting Business Data Stewards in the management of metadata, data lineage, risks and controls across the Bank.
Enable effective governance oversight and decision-making by coordinating governance committees, driving agenda planning, monitoring actions, and ensuring timely follow-up on key decisions and commitments.
About you
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing data management and governance frameworks, ideally aligned to industry standards such as the DAMA Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBoK), within the financial services or public sector environments. A CDMP certification would be highly regarded.
Experience establishing and/or supporting AI governance practices, including the development of governance frameworks, policies, controls and oversight mechanisms for the responsible use of AI.
Knowledge of governance approaches for citizen development / business coders, with an understanding of balancing innovation, risk management and compliance requirements.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with a proven ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively with senior leaders, subject matter experts and cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of SQL, Python, R and Git would be advantageous but is not essential.
