We are seeking a talented individual to join our Wealth Operations team at Mercer.

This role will be based in GGN. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Senior Manager – Implementation Services (Grade E)

What can you expect?

The role of the Data Analyst Team Lead is to deliver any data related activities necessary for the delivery of a project initiative. Common tasks include (but are not limited to):

  • responding to data / information requests,
  • data analysis on complex superannuation data sets,
  • mapping (source to target) external data sets to Mercer’s ecosystem,
  • designing and developing scripts (ETL) to migrate data into Mercer’s core systems,
  • testing data for data quality and data integrity
  • Importing data to / exporting data from production systems,
  • Reconciliation & System Integration testing (SIT) of data.
  • Leveraging AI tools for enhanced data processing and intelligent automation.

In addition to hands-on participation in delivery activities, the data team take a leadership role within the team. The team lead takes responsibility for a team of data analysts, actively participates in estimation of work, and plays a driving role in defining data governance best practices.

The data team consists of both onshore and offshore specialists. Projects will almost always be delivered by a combination of both. As part of the role, the data analyst contributes to project objectives and takes ownership of data related tasks. The data practice within Program Delivery is responsible for delivering a high and consistent level of quality of data to our stakeholders.

What you need to have:    

Expectation of at least 5-7 years of experience in data roles

Advanced in the following technique / knowledge areas:

  • Data Analysis
    • Plan / design data related tasks
    • Conducting Analysis
    • Meaningfully report findings to (non-technical) stakeholders
  • Data Load
    • Data Mapping (Source to Target)
    • Code development of load jobs
    • Load execution
  • ETL development best practices,
  • Software Development Lifecycle
  • Project Management Methodologies
  • Identify and escalate risks and issues
  • Data Reconciliation & Audit Activities
  • Peer review / sign off sessions for data artefacts
  • Project Methodologies
    • Waterfall
    • V-Model
    • Agile
  • Data management technical skills
    • SQL querying (T-SQL), particularly demonstrated knowledge of:
      • Complex SELECT and JOIN usage;
      • Expressions and Control of Flow techniques;
      • Creation and manipulation of Temporary Tables/CTEs.
    • MS SQL Server DB management, specifically understanding of
      • ODBC connectivity,
      • table indexation,
      • query optimization,
      • etc.
    • Preferably some experience with Data Visualization / BI
    • Advanced MS Excel level usage
    • Basic coding experience (focus on Python, Powershell, Visual Basic and other scripting languages.)

Proficient in the following test technique / knowledge areas:

  • Data Migration Strategy
  • Data Management on large projects (5+ reports)
  • Mentoring other team members in data practices
  • Contributing to data practice continuous improvement
  • Risk and issue management
  • Stakeholder management

Understanding of responsible AI principles and data privacy compliance.
