We are guided by the following set of values and behaviors–optimism, integrity, excellence, inclusion, co-creation and boldness–and look forward to hearing about how your past experiences align with them. <h3>Managing Counsel, Privacy and Data Security:</h3> The Managing Counsel, Data Privacy & Protection will be an integral part of the legal team, responsible for ensuring compliance with various domestic and international regulations and best practices, including supporting technological infrastructure compliance and data analytics. coordinating with internal and external stakeholders including applicable government authorities and other partners. </li> <li>Draft and update the privacy policies, terms of use, and consents for LA28 and USOPP's various business lines. </li> <li>Develop, implement, and maintain data protection and privacy procedures and processes for LA28 and USOPP, considering domestic and applicable international requirements. </li> <li>Provide advice to a range of LA28’s business teams on implementation of privacy regulations and compliance with applicable privacy laws.  Collaborate with technology, marketing, and other functional area teams. </li> <li>Advise, draft and negotiate the privacy and data security portions of contracts with vendors and other business partners. </li> <li>Draft and advise on contracts regarding data privacy and protection requirements. </li> <li>Work closely with Technology department to design and implement training and awareness on data protection and privacy. </li> <li>Advise on cybersecurity incident response requirements concerning data privacy and protection issues. </li> <li>Support data mapping, data analytics issues, and vendor management reviews. </li> <li>Design metrics and reporting on compliance with all relevant data protection and privacy laws, regulations, policies and procedures and report, where appropriate. </li> <li>Maintain and keep up-to-date expert knowledge of data protection and privacy laws, regulations, pending legislation and practices.   </li> <li>Assist with general contracts drafting and negotiations, and additional cross-functional projects within Legal department objectives in preparation for the Games. </li> </ul> <h3>Background & Requirements:</h3>   <ul> <li>U.S. Data Protection and/or privacy certifications highly preferred (CIPP/US), international certification a plus.  California Bar admission strongly preferred, or existing registered in-house counsel.  </li> <li><span data-ccp-parastyle="Table Paragraph" data-ccp-parastyle-defn="{"ObjectId":"b46c0d54-a6e9-5ff7-9efa-33f88570c2ad|1","ClassId":1073872969,"Properties":[469777842,"LA28 Text",268442635,"22",335551547,"1033",335559740,"240",201341983,"0",201342446,"1",201342447,"5",201342448,"1",201342449,"1",469777841,"LA28 Text",469777843,"LA28 Text",469777844,"LA28 Text",201341986,"1",469769226,"LA28 Text",469775450,"Table Paragraph",201340122,"2",134234082,"true",134233614,"true",469778129,"TableParagraph",335572020,"1",134245417,"false",469778324,"Normal"]}">Minimum of 5+years professional experience related to the scope of this position. </li> <li>Knowledge of domestic and international data privacy and protection regulations and best practices. </li> <li>Familiarity with drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, and handling issues relating to leveraging data assets, data privacy, and data security. </li> <li>Familiarity with updating and/or implementing data privacy and protection policies and compliance programs.</li> </ul> <h3>Expectations:</h3> <ul> <li> Ability to handle deadline-intensive work. </li> <li>Concise grammatical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills. </li> <li>Detail-oriented with exceptional research, organizational, and problem-solving skills. </li> <li>Ability to work well with others in fast paced and dynamic environment, both autonomously and collaboratively; ability to maintain absolute confidentiality. </li> <li>Strong work ethic, client-service orientation, and sound judgment. </li> <li>Excellent judgment, knowing when to escalate issues. </li> <li>Excellent analytical skills; capable of identifying and prioritizing issues and providing alternative solutions. </li> <li>Excellent project and time management skills and ability to manage and prioritize changing workloads to meet deadlines.  Strong ability to execute and deliver projects to completion.  </li> </ul> <h3>Education:</h3> <ul> <li data-leveltext="" data-font="Symbol" data-listid="14" data-list-defn-props="{"335552541":1,"335559685":720,"335559991":360,"469769226":"Symbol","469769242":[8226],"469777803":"left","469777804":"","469777815":"multilevel"}" data-aria-posinset="1" data-aria-level="1">Undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school required.   </li> </ul> <h3>Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:</h3> <ul> <li>Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.   </li> <li>The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.    </li> <li>The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open desk environment.    </li> <li>Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.  </li> <li>Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  </li> </ul> The annual base salary range for this position is $160,000-$175,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
