The Materials Planning Analyst is responsible for ensuring effective material planning and replenishment processes, maintaining inventory levels aligned with sales and operational demands. This role has a strong focus on imported materials management, monitoring international lead times, logistics processes, and foreign exchange variables.
This professional develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), conducts demand, inventory, and coverage analyses, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate stock-out and excess inventory risks.

Material and Demand Planning

  • Develop and review Material Requirements Planning (MRP), considering demand forecasts, lead times, and inventory policies.
  • Review and act on MRP recommendations and exception messages, including expediting, rescheduling, consolidating, or canceling orders as required.
  • Monitor inventory levels, stock coverage, and inventory turn, ensuring an appropriate balance between product availability and working capital investment.
  • Proactively prevent stock-outs and reduce excess inventory.

Imported Materials Management

  • Plan and monitor import orders, considering international lead times and logistics constraints.
  • Manage open purchase orders to ensure material availability while minimizing excess inventory and obsolescence risk.
  • Collaborate with International Trade teams and global suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Analyze the impact of exchange rate fluctuations, transit times, and customs processes on planning activities.

Data Analysis and KPIs

  • Develop and monitor KPIs such as service level, forecast accuracy, inventory coverage, and obsolescence.
  • Prepare analytical reports to support business decision-making.
  • Identify deviations and develop corrective action plans.

Cross-Functional and Supplier Interface

  • Act as a liaison between Supply Chain, Sales, Operations, Purchasing, and Logistics teams.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and collaborate with suppliers to resolve shortages, delays and supply continuity risks.
  • Participate in the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
  • Align forecasts, demand requirements, and operational constraints with key stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement and Process Management

  • Identify opportunities to improve planning and replenishment processes.
  • Implement industry best practices and automation initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Systems and Tools Management

  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems for material planning activities.
  • Maintain planning parameters including safety stock levels, reorder points, MOQ, within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Develop advanced analyses using Excel and Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Automate reports and dashboards to improve efficiency and visibility.

Organization and Compliance (5S and QMS)

  • Maintain proper organization and document control in accordance with internal policies.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.

Education, experience, and language (minimum and desirable)

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in international Trade, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.

Desirable Education: Postgraduate degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.

Minimum Training: Microsoft Office Suite, Advanced Excel, Customs and Import Regulations.

Desirable Training: Power BI, knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), and inventory management.

Minimum Experience: 6 months

Desirable Experience: 2 years

Language Required: Portuguese and Intermediate English.

Desirable Language: Advanced English and Intermediate Spanish.
