Payroll Analyst
Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
This role is responsible for executing end-to-end payroll processes while also
supporting key accounting activities related to payroll. The position ensures
accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with Mexican statutory
requirements, and proper recording of payroll transactions in the general ledger.
Additionally, this role contributes to financial reporting, account reconciliations, and
process improvements to strengthen internal controls and audit readiness.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Process and validate direct and indirect labor hours interfaces from
timekeeping systems to the payroll system, ensuring data accuracy and
completeness.
• Execute weekly payroll processing activities, including salary
payments, electronic transfers, saving funds, food coupons, and statutory
deductions (e.g., ISR, IMSS, INFONAVIT, and FONACOT).
• Prepare and review payroll journal entries, ensuring proper accounting
classification and timely posting to the general ledger.
• Generate and upload payroll-related accounting interfaces and disbursement
files.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations related to payroll accounts (e.g.,
accruals, provisions, taxes payable, and employee benefits).
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to payroll, including
accrual calculations and variance analysis.
• Review direct labor (DL) actual hours with production managers on a regular
basis to support productivity, cost control, and operational efficiency analysis.
• Prepare management reports and analysis (e.g., direct labor hours, actual
rates, headcount trends, payroll variances).
• Support forecasting and budgeting of payroll and headcount for Mexico
Operations.
• Document, maintain, and update payroll and accounting procedures to ensure
standardization and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing required
documentation and explanations for payroll-related accounts.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and
strengthening internal controls
Qualifications
Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
• 3+ years of experience in payroll processing and accounting functions
(preferred)
• Strong knowledge of Mexican labor, tax, and social security regulations
• Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data
analysis)
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, TRESS System (preferred)
• Bilingual English/Spanish (minimum 80%)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
