About the Role:

We are seeking a highly technical Principal Data Platform Product Manager with deep expertise in pharmaceutical data platforms across discovery, pre-clinical, and clinical domains. This role serves as a technical product leader, responsible for leading complex, cross-functional data platform initiatives and translating business and scientific needs into scalable platform capabilities. This role serves as a critical bridge between Business Analysts, Scientists, and Engineering teams.

The successful candidate excels at balancing strategic leadership with diving into the details — mapping complex business and scientific workflows, translating Business Requirements Documents (BRD) into detailed Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), defining epics and user stories, and acting as the Product Owner for agile delivery teams, while not losing sight of the bigger picture.

This role is responsible for driving delivery excellence, defining best practices, and ensuring alignment across business, scientific, and engineering stakeholders. This position plays a key role in advancing enterprise data platform capabilities that enable reliable, compliant, and scalable capabilities across research and clinical operations enterprise-wide.

_

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of technical initiatives for data platform capabilities spanning discovery (multi-omics, imaging, chemistry data), pre-clinical, and clinical

  • Partner closely with Business Analysts on BRDs and author/refine detailed SRS documents; translate business and scientific needs into clear epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications

  • Drive product ownership for data platform initiatives, including roadmap prioritization, backlog governance, and alignment of delivery to business value

  • Work directly with engineers on solution design, data models, integrations, and implementation details, mapping complex pharma business, scientific, and data workflows that support scalable and compliant platform capabilities

  • Drive day-to-day execution of initiatives using agile practices while embedding data governance, security, lineage, and regulatory requirements (GxP, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11)

  • Act as the key technical bridge between scientists, BAs, data engineers, MLOps, and compliance stakeholders

  • Own delivery outcomes for data platform initiatives, ensuring alignment to business objectives, timelines, and quality standards. Define and implement best practices for product ownership, requirements management, and data platform delivery

  • Contribute to and help operationalize the enterprise data platform strategy by identifying opportunities to improve scalability, usability, and efficiency across the platform. Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 6+years in Technical Product Management or Product Owner role with relevant exposure to data ecosystems OR

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and 4+ years as noted above (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Deep domain expertise across discovery, pre-clinical, and clinical domains, including multi-omics, lab instrument data, chemistry informatics, biomarker analytics, and related workflows

  • Proven ability to map detailed workflows, author SRS documents from BRDs, write granular epics/stories, and drive agile delivery as a Product Owner

  • Strong technical acumen with modern data platforms (Databricks lakehouse, cloud data pipelines, data catalogs, governance tools) and experience working directly with engineering teams, both on-site and remote, on implementation

  • Demonstrated success delivering complex data initiatives in regulated GxP environments

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to bridge technical and scientific audiences

  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications

  • Prior experience with AWS, Databricks, data mesh principles, semantic layers, or scientific computing tools (LIMS, ELNs)

  • Background in AI/ML enablement for research or translational science
