POSITION SUMMARY
The Process Controls Professional supports control systems for the gas gathering, compression, processing, and pipeline assets in the East Texas area. This role provides technical stewardship for SCADA systems, PLC programs, and HMI systems. The position is responsible for implementing process controls improvements, troubleshooting control system issues, and supporting projects in adherence to MPLX standards and industry best practices. This role works closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Measurement and Environmental teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations through effective application of control strategies and automation technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Programs PLCs (primarily Allen Bradley and Emerson) to automate processes and sequences to achieve operational safety and efficiency objectives
• Develops HMI graphics (primarily Wonderware) to accurately depict the processes being controlled and enhance asset operability
• Maintains SCADA systems to collect and display data from flow computers, PLCs, and RTUs in the field
• Provides process controls support for a wide breadth of midstream asset types including gas gathering, compression, pipelines, and processing facilities
• Proactively identifies opportunities for control system enhancements
• Supports a wide range of communications protocols such as Modbus, OPC, DeviceNet, and EtherNet/IP
• Provides process controls support for maintenance and capital projects
• Works collaboratively with Process Controls peers in support of standardization and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintains C&E and controls narrative documents
• Understands local operational processes and supports operations teams in troubleshooting abnormal process conditions
• Understands control system drawings and P&IDs
• Understands and applies MPLX standards and industry best practices
• Understands Process Safety Management concepts and actively participates in programs such as Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
• Associate's degree or vocational qualifications in related field required; Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred
• Seven (7) years of related experience required
• Valid Driver's License required
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
