POSITION OBJECTIVE/SUMMARY:
The Production Planning Analyst, supports the manufacturing operations by performing work required for scheduling trucks to facilitate on-time delivery to the customer by production planning, releasing, and closing production orders, and supporting CLARK operations. This position actively participates and supports the planning decisions affecting master production scheduling as it relates to company goals and objectives for the Lexington factory. The Production Planning Analyst reports to the Operation Planning Manager. This position works with a cross-functional team which includes representatives from Manufacturing, Engineering, Order Entry, Quality, and Purchasing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Will track and support material requirements that will be used in the production, welding, paint & modification areas. Maintain spreadsheets, databases, and reports to reflect this activity.
Schedule production sequence by considering model mix, options required, delivery date, and material availability.
Sequence and release trucks to weld/paint/production using CLARK Manufacturing Information System.
Release production orders using Baan MRP system and issue job packets for each truck to manufacturing.
Report production orders complete in Baan MRP as trucks are completed & work with materials department to resolve inventory & Bill of Materials discrepancies.
Review sales orders for Engineering Special Quotes and notate in CLARK MIS system and job packets.
Interface between materials, engineering, order entry, and quality departments to identify issues that would affect production plan and change accordingly.
Work with the Materials Department to solve part shortages on scheduled trucks to adjust or transfer components to clear shortage. Understand material shortages and delivery dates to communicate changes to production floor.
Prioritize and handle various tasks to meet deadlines.
Understanding of computerized systems pertaining to Order Entry, Project Requirements Planning, Bills of Materials, Shop Floor Control, Master Production Planning, Inventory Control and Material Requirements Planning.
Work on special projects as required.
Participate as a team member in work, meetings and other functions such as transferring information to others, improving working relationships with co-workers contributing to team success.
Support company policies and demonstrate concern for the success of the business.
Excellent communication skills (verbal/email) and ability to work directly with manufacturing personnel on a daily basis.
Communicate daily on production/MOD truck completions, current status against production plan, and ability to run daily production close meeting.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education plus 2-4 years’ experience in supporting manufacturing, production, and operations in a MRP factory environment.
Obtaining professional APICS certification is a plus.
Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning and Shop Floor Control. Ability to provide detailed recovery production plans and recommendations.
Self-motivated with a high degree of confidence and energy level.
Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, peers and suppliers.
Computer literate with application programs, material control systems and basic presentation skills. BAAN experience is desired.
Efficient computer skills working with Microsoft Office.
Ability to problem solve, take supervision and direction from Managers at all levels.
Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the US.
ENVIRONMENTAL / PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
The position is located in an office environment but is required to be in the production area also, and be exposed to the typical production environment which is described as follows:
May encounter loud noise, varying temperatures (including heat during summer and from the operation of equipment. Various machinery and equipment may generate loud noise and vibration. The incumbent may encounter oil, grease, paint, solvents and other potentially hazardous materials. The incumbent may also encounter dust, fumes, flying debris, and fast-moving machinery, such as forklift trucks.
The position requires using a personal computer and monitor, as well as basic office equipment, including a telephone.
