Wait, What Do You Do?

The Production Technician performs mechanical or electro-mechanical sub-assembly work. Direction provided by verbal instructions or established assembly procedures. Requires simple adjusting with liberal tolerances and no fitting. Work is typically performed at a bench and may include walking or standing. Performs bench-type processes to complete mechanical and electrical assemblies / sub-assemblies, using hand tools and electronic tooling. Performs assembly operations that are moderately complex, requiring adjusting, and aligning of components to ordinary tolerances. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: include the following: <ul> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Performs assembly operations either by wire bonding, soldering, spot welding, staking, or epoxying.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Performs assembly under a microscope.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Hand solders pins, cables, components, sub-assemblies, and completed units.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Operates ultrasonic welding apparatus.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Attaches various I.C.s, transistors, resistors, or thermistors to P.C. boards.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Performs oil fill operations.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Conducts tests for some final units.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Performs life testing programs utilizing a computer.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Provides training or instruction of co-workers and other employees when needed.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">May operate turning-center-assisted tig welding to specific programs established by Manufacturing Engineering.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">May rotate to other workstations in the unit.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Meets or exceeds departments targets set by supervisor/ managers</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned. </li> </ul> ESSENTIAL SKILLS: <ul> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">2+ years’ experience</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Ability to follow workplace safety standards and company policies and procedures.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Ability to work in a team setting and contribute to building a positive team spirit.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines. </li> </ul> EDUCATION: <ul> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Minimum high school diploma or general education degree GED. </li> </ul> PHYSICAL DEMANDS: <ul> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to work with small parts. </li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Work is typically performed at a variety of locations within the department (which includes walking or standing).</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
