At Johnson Matthey, your work will matter. As a Release Analyst, you’ll join a world leader in platinum group metals with over 200 years of history and innovation. You’ll help tackle the world’s biggest challenges - cutting emissions, powering modern society and enhancing lives - as we continue to apply, refine and recycle metals that matter, for a healthier and more resilient future.

The role:

As a Release Analyst, you will help drive our goals by:

  • Supporting the planning, coordination, and execution across SAP and other enterprise applications through development, test, and production environments, while maintaining release plans, calendars, deployment schedules, and implementation checklists.

  • Coordinating release activities across technical teams, business stakeholders, and third-party suppliers, while helping to shape and mature an internally managed release service.

  • Partnering with Change Management teams to ensure releases comply with organisational governance, GCAB requirements, audit standards, and ITIL best practices.

  • Validating release readiness by confirming approvals, testing, documentation, support arrangements, deployment plans, and rollback procedures are in place before implementation.

  • Monitoring release execution, proactively identifying and managing risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating where appropriate, and supporting incident resolution during deployment windows.

  • Maintaining release documentation, communications, metrics, and reporting, while supporting post-implementation reviews and continual service improvement initiatives.

  • Supporting the development of standardised release management processes, governance, reporting, and automation opportunities across all our applications and platforms.

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:

  • Good understanding of Release Management principles within complex enterprise IT environments. Experience coordinating releases across multiple technical teams, applications, infrastructure, testing functions, and third-party suppliers would be advantageous.

  • Strong knowledge of ITIL practices, particularly Release, Change, Incident, and Problem Management, alongside experience working within formal Change Management and CAB governance processes.

  • Experience using IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms, such as BMC Helix, to manage Change Requests, Release Records, approvals, incidents, and associated workflows.

  • Understanding of software development lifecycles, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models, with the ability to assess release readiness, dependencies, implementation risks, and rollback requirements.

  • Experience maintaining release schedules, deployment plans, release documentation, implementation checklists, and release calendars.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to build effective relationships across technical and business teams.

  • Analytical, planning, and organisational skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.

  • Experience supporting SAP releases (ECC, S/4HANA, SAP Business Technology Platform, or related SAP products) or other enterprise ERP platforms would be advantageous, as would ITIL Foundation certification (v4 preferred).

Even if you only match some of the skills, we’d love to hear from you to discuss further!
