Research and MREL Data Specialist



This position is necessary to securely compile, audit, and analyse the project baseline and endline data collected from all training cohorts to ensure transparent, independent tracking of the project's impact, along with commissioning and analysing desk-based and field-based research.



Responsibilities:



  • Securely compile, audit, and analyse Kobo-based baseline and endline data collected from all training cohorts to ensure transparent, independent tracking of project impact.
  • Conduct and manage research and analysis on a broad range of socio-political, security and economic topics relevant to the research portfolio(s) and project portfolio(s) of assigned responsibility.
  • Monitor open-source media and publicly available information for research and analysis purposes; ability to synthesise relevant key findings.
  • Collate community feedback data captured through IN2's two-way communication channel, integrating it into wider MEL analysis.
  • Produce a monthly consolidated report combining desk-based research, training data, online monitoring, and community feedback data for submission to EU FPI.
  • Support the wider MEL function in tracking progress against the project's logframe indicators, flagging data gaps or quality concerns to the Implementation and Research Manager.
  • Maintain data governance and confidentiality protocols in line with donor and organisational data protection standards.
  • Support the mid-term review and final evaluation processes by preparing and quality-assuring data extracts for the independent evaluation partner.
  • Provide ad-hoc data analysis and visualisation support to the wider Syria-based project team.



Qualification:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (statistics, social science, data science, monitoring & evaluation); Master's degree advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience with data collection and management tools such as Kobo Toolbox, and strong Excel/data analysis skills.
  • Experience working with MEL systems in an international development, humanitarian, or CVE programming context.
  • Strong academic background in research and analysis; able to critically assess sources and information and apply these skills in a professional setting.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise data from multiple sources (survey, dashboard, qualitative feedback) into clear reporting.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, both written and spoken, required.
  • High attention to detail and a strong data integrity / quality assurance mindset.
  • Based in Syria; able to work confidentially and securely with sensitive beneficiary data.
