Risk Advisory Analyst
About the role – Full-time, Permanent
Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance (Operations & Finance), with day-to-day guidance from the Risk Advisory Manager (Finance & Data), this is an excellent opportunity to build your career in Line 1 Risk within a dynamic financial services environment. You will partner with stakeholders across Finance & Data to deliver practical risk advice, support the implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework and help uplift risk capability and culture across the division.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Finance & Data leaders to provide practical risk advice and support, helping embed strong operational risk practices and informed business decision-making.
- Support the delivery of the Operational Risk Management Framework, including incidents, issues, risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs), controls testing and root cause analysis.
- Produce meaningful risk reporting and insights that enable senior leaders to monitor emerging risks, strengthen controls and make balanced risk-based decisions.
- Collaborate across Line 1, Line 2 and Internal Audit, coordinating governance forums (including taking minutes where required), supporting assurance activities and ensuring regulatory and policy compliance.
- Support risk maturity and culture by promoting risk awareness, delivering training and helping embed risk ownership across the division.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by implementing learnings from risk events, supporting remediation activities and helping enhance operational risk frameworks and processes.
About you
You are a proactive and collaborative risk professional who enjoys partnering with the business to embed effective risk practices and influence positive outcomes. Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, you'll combine strong stakeholder engagement with sound operational risk knowledge to help strengthen risk capability across the Finance & Data division.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Experience in Operational Risk, Compliance, Audit or Controls within financial services, or a related risk environment, with exposure to Finance, Data or Product functions highly regarded.
- Working knowledge of operational risk frameworks, including incidents, issues, risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs), controls testing and risk reporting.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and provide practical, business-focused risk advice.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong judgement, problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience analysing risk information and producing clear, insightful reporting that supports governance and risk-informed decision-making.
- Passion for promoting a positive risk culture, with a collaborative mindset and a willingness to coach and support others in building risk capability.
- Sound understanding of regulatory obligations and governance principles within the financial services industry, or the ability to quickly build this knowledge.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Risk Management or a related discipline are desirable, along with a genuine interest in developing a career in Line 1 Risk.
Location
This position can be based in Adelaide or Brisbane or Toowoomba.
