Position overview

This role supports the Head of Risk Oversight in ensuring the effectiveness, consistency, and transparency of risk management practices across Asia Pacific under RGA's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program. This role supports risk governance and reporting, facilitates the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process and provides committee support.


Working closely with local risk leaders, business stakeholders, Financial Risk Management, and Operational Risk teams, this position supports risk analysis, reviews and independent challenges, for the first line functions to make risk-informed decisions.


This role contributes to the ongoing enhancement of risk governance and reporting practices across the region providing effective oversight of the region's risk profile and helping ensure that management and governing bodies have timely, accurate, and actionable information regarding the region's key risks.
 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare risk reporting and analytics for the region including the preparation of regional risk reports, dashboards, and management information. Monitor risk trends, emerging risks, key risk indicators, and material risk exposures across the region
  • Support risk governance processes by coordinating risk committee activities (preparing the agenda, providing risk reports and committee papers, minute taking and action tracking) and the escalation and reporting of material and emerging risks through appropriate governance channels
  • Facilitate the RCSA process for the region (including the review and challenge of risk assessments to ensure consistency, completeness, and appropriateness of risk evaluations) and conduct analysis on RCSA outcomes to identify common risk themes, concentrations, and emerging concerns across markets and functions, and provide analysis and insights for further review
  • Support the implementation and application of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework across the region by partnering with stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and business functions to support robust risk oversight
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk framework across the region by the proactive review and enhancement of tools, processes, and dashboards; the identification of opportunities to streamline, simplify, and improve risk oversight processes and governance practices including the enhancement of RCSA methodologies, templates, and reporting
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Arts/Science or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in enterprise risk management or related risk fields with responsibilities for management reporting
  • Re/insurance and/or financial services industry experience is preferred
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions with differing regulatory expectations is preferred
  • Risk management accreditation, like CIRM, or working towards attaining a relevant risk related qualification is preferred
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational and organisational problems
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across all regional markets
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand the business of RGA
  • Balanced quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Proficiency in presentation, analysis, and reporting tools
