What You’ll Do Architectural Leadership <ul type="disc"> <li>Design and maintain the end‑to‑end enterprise data architecture leveraging Databricks, Delta Lake, and Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) Architecture.</li> <li>Define scalable, future‑proof data models and pipelines that support structured, semi‑structured, and unstructured data at enterprise scale.</li> <li>Develop and maintain architectural principles, patterns, and standards to ensure consistency across data engineering teams.</li> <li>Lead the evolution of the data platform toward open, cloud‑native, and interoperable technologies.</li> </ul> Data Engineering & Platform Design <ul type="disc"> <li>Architect and optimize Delta Lake storage layers for reliability, performance, ACID transactions, schema evolution, and data quality enforcement.</li> <li>Develop standards for ingestion frameworks, ETL/ELT pipelines, streaming architectures, and transformation logic.</li> <li>Partner with platform teams to optimize Databricks compute architecture, cluster design, and cost management strategies.</li> <li>Evaluate and implement new technologies, capabilities, and data tools to enhance the platform.</li> </ul> Governance, Quality & Standards <ul type="disc"> <li>Establish best practices for data governance, security, lineage, cataloging, and quality monitoring.</li> <li>Define naming standards, folder structures, coding conventions, and repository patterns for cross‑team consistency.</li> <li>Work with InfoSec and compliance teams to ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory requirements.</li> <li>Implement reusable frameworks for data validation, testing, and observability.</li> </ul> Collaboration & Leadership <ul type="disc"> <li>Partner with data engineering, analytics, product, and business teams to define data requirements and design solutions.</li> <li>Mentor senior and junior data engineers on architectural patterns and coding best practices.</li> <li>Communicate architectural decisions and tradeoffs to technical and non‑technical audiences.</li> <li>Provide guidance on project planning, roadmap development, and architectural reviews.</li> </ul> What You’ll Bring – Required <ul type="disc"> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field</li> <li>6 or more years of experience in data architecture, digital architecture, or closely related technology roles, with demonstrated depth in designing and advising on enterprise‑scale solutions</li> <li>Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform; Azure, AWS or GCP</li> <li>Legally authorized to work in the job posting country</li> </ul> What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred <ul type="disc"> <li>Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field</li> <li>Advanced proficiency in: <ul type="circle"> <li>Databricks (Spark, SQL, Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog)</li> <li>Delta Lake and lakehouse architectures</li> <li>Medallion Architecture design and implementation</li> </ul> </li> <li>Advanced proficiency in distributed data systems, Spark optimization, and big data processing</li> <li>Advanced proficiency in data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and performance optimization</li> <li>Advanced proficiency in programming skills using Python and SQL</li> <li>Experience implementing data governance frameworks, cataloging solutions, lineage tools, and security models</li> <li>Experience designing data architectures in cloud or hybrid environments, including data lakes, data warehouses, or lakehouse patterns</li> <li>Advanced proficiency in programming skills using Scala or PySpark</li> <li>Familiarity with ML/AI pipelines, MLOps frameworks, and feature store concepts</li> <li>Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code for data platforms</li> <li>Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data quality practices in large or regulated organizations</li> <li>Experience supporting analytics, reporting, or advanced use cases such as machine learning or AI enablement</li> <li>Background in energy, manufacturing, logistics, or other asset‑intensive industries</li> <li>A track record of staying current with emerging technologies and applying them thoughtfully to real‑world business challenges</li> <li>Strong ability to analyze current‑state environments, define future‑state architectures, and guide complex change initiatives from concept through execution</li> <li>Proven experience partnering with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into pragmatic, scalable architecture decisions</li> <li>Advanced knowledge of data platforms, integration patterns, and architectural standards used in modern enterprise environments</li> <li>Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and provide guidance as a trusted subject‑matter expert</li> </ul> <div></div>Compensation Range This position has a base salary range of $160,200- $195,800. At Phillips 66, we are committed to pay transparency and competitive, equitable compensation. Each role is assigned a salary grade with a defined pay range, benchmarked against industry peers.
