See Yourself in the Team
At CommBank, we understand that businesses can face challenges at every stage of their journey. When financial difficulties arise, our Group Credit Structuring team works with customers and stakeholders to identify practical, sustainable pathways forward. Working closely with business customers, bankers and specialist teams across the Bank, we take the time to understand each customer’s circumstances, assess the underlying financial and operational issues, and develop solutions that balance customer needs with commercial, risk and governance considerations.
Our aim is to support businesses through periods of uncertainty, help stabilise their position and, wherever possible, enable them to return to a normal banking relationship. This is a team that combines disciplined credit and commercial judgement, and regulatory responsibility with genuine care for customers. Through early engagement, collaboration and informed decision-making, we deliver outcomes that support the long-term interests of our customers and the Group.
Do Work that Matters
As a Senior Analyst within Group Credit Structuring, you'll manage a portfolio of business banking customers experiencing financial stress or complex financial challenges. You'll work closely with them to understand their business, their circumstances and the factors contributing to their current situation. By asking thoughtful questions, building trusted relationships and analysing available information, you'll help identify practical pathways forward that balance customer needs with commercial and risk considerations.
This is a highly relationship-driven role where success comes from your ability to remain curious, navigate complexity, build trust and solve problems. You'll partner with customers, bankers and specialist teams across the organisation to develop strategies that support business recovery, rehabilitation and long-term sustainability wherever possible. Every customer situation is different. Some businesses may be facing a temporary setback, while others require more complex solutions. You'll bring sound judgement, resilience and a human-centred approach to every interaction, helping customers navigate uncertainty with confidence and dignity. In this role, you may expect to:
- Manage a portfolio of business banking customers experiencing financial difficulty.
- Engage directly with business owners and stakeholders to understand their circumstances.
- Assess customer situations and identify practical support strategies and solutions.
- Develop and implement rehabilitation, restructuring or recovery plans where appropriate.
- Build trusted relationships with customers, bankers and internal stakeholders.
- Balance customer outcomes with commercial and risk considerations.
- Maintain strong governance and portfolio management practices.
- Monitor emerging risks and opportunities across your portfolio.
- Contribute ideas and insights that improve customer and business outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
Success in this role requires a combination of customer care, commercial capability and confident decision-making. The ideal applicant for this role will bring:
- Experience supporting business customers in banking, financial services, credit, restructuring, insolvency or a related field.
- Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with customers experiencing sensitive or challenging circumstances.
- A genuine interest in businesses, their operating models and the factors that influence financial performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including the ability to assess complex information and identify practical options.
- Sound commercial and credit judgement.
- The confidence to make and communicate balanced decisions, including where difficult messages need to be delivered.
- Exceptional command of English, with strong competence in professional customer correspondence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and adapt your approach to different audiences.
- A disciplined approach to governance, documentation, risk management and portfolio oversight.
- Adaptability and a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
