Additional information about the company can be found at WhirlpoolCorp.com. ## The team you will be a part of The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation. ## This role in summary The position is responsible to lead and execute design and development of component/ module /subsystem by preparing innovative concepts in HMI Mechanical Structures and mechatronics. Builds on organizational/process knowledge, understands business needs. Identify opportunities for improvement, and Solves complex problems, trade-off & prioritizes design decisions.Responsible to meet product and sub-system level attribute targets. ## Your responsibilities will include * Lead & own category specific HMI projects * Responsible to generate and review engineering design concepts at module/component level aimed at improving performance, increasing quality and/ or optimizing cost. * Leads interactions with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply chain teams to examine Design for Manufacturability & Assembly in support of existing products and introduction of new products & technologies. * Develop the interfaces between the electronic and mechanical parts of the system. * Communicate task status and risks to project team members and management * Conduct tolerance stack analysis to ensure efficient assembly and reliable product performance * Leads Manufacturing feasibility studies for NPD * Develop prototypes of the new product for manufacturing. * Learn and integrate Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) tools. * Create Model Shop / Lab requests /SBD requests and support in Virtual/ Physical build as applicable * Generate ideas using various VA/VE tools like teardowns to continuously build LOS for future projects. * Work with engineering team members in remote locations (such as the US, Mexico, Italy and China) to execute new product design and production * Participates in Design reviews and Design release process to provide manufacturing sign-off before design is released. * Bring in best practice from other parts of the company and from outside the company to avoid unnecessary learning cycles. ## Minimum requirements 1. Proficiency in designing parts in Sheet metal, Plastic and other manufacturing processes. 2. Proficient in codes and regulatory requirements. 3. Expert in Stackup, GD&T and DFx methodologies. 4. Expert in Product Development process 5. Expert in project planning ,capital calender & project management. 6. Proficient in 6 Sigma (GB - certified or BB - Trained / certified) - is a plus 7. Understanding of system engineering 8. Experience with Creo 3D Solid/Surface is a plus 9. Knowledge & understanding / of HMI functions of Decoration, Lighting, LCD display, Touch technology, audio, prox, Haptics and Knobs is a plus 10. Basic knowledge of Electronics (PCBs, connectors, harness, cables/routings, Connectivity, assembly packing) is a plus ## Preferred skills and experiences * Flawless and Predictable HMI Project Delivery * Operational Excellence by project delivery on time, cost and quality. * Technical Solution of HMI Subsystem * Requirement management and Delivery as per requirement * Competency growth plan * Design and develop the concepts, assemblies for HMI using CREO. * Prototype,test and trade off the designs * Develop FMEA’’s, DVP&R,Project plans,cost analysis for a project. * Effective briefing of concept, test results, etc to global team. * Request and analyse the concepts with the help of SBD team. * Perform stackup for tolerance analysis of assemblies.
