Position Summary
Under the direction of Strategy Department leadership, the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst supports clinical, operational, and financial decision making by transforming complex healthcare data into meaningful, actionable insights. This role designs, develops, tests, and maintains reporting and analytics solutions, using a variety of data sources including Epic, payor and payroll systems. This role applies strong analytical thinking, data modeling principles, and SQL expertise to ensure accurate, reliable, and high-quality reporting solutions. In addition to Epic reporting tools such as Radar, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Cogito, and Clarity or Caboodle, the Senior BI Analyst will use data visualization platforms, such as Tableau or Power BI to translate business requirements into scalable dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in scientific, technical, healthcare informatics, or mathematics field, and/or five years of equivalent experience
- Minimum three years of of relevant experience in data analytics, data science, data warehousing, metadata management, and dimensional modeling
- Proficiency in Epic reporting tools, including Radar, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Cogito and Clarity or Caboodle data models
- Working knowledge of SQL, dimensional data modeling, and data warehousing concepts
- Strong critical thinking and analytical problem solving skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations and clinical workflows
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with teams from a wide variety of cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
- Self-starter with demonstrated teamwork & communication skills
- Strong communication, scheduling, and compliance understanding; ability to multitask in mid-size to large-size teams
- Support the standards of High Reliability
Essential Responsibilities
- Build reports using data from Epic Clarity, Epic Hyperspace, payroll systems, payer data, managed care data and other internal and external sources
- Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and develop dashboards, scorecards, and KPIs that support clinical, operational, and financial decision making
- Apply data management and evaluation standards to ensure accuracy, integrity, and reliability of reporting solutions
- Interpret and develop complex SQL queries for ad hoc reporting, data validation, and ETL processes
- Create interactive visualizations and present findings through clear verbal, written, and visual communication, offering recommendations that support performance improvement
- Create and maintain administrative workflow systems that improve Business Intelligence documentation, project tracking, data dictionaries, and reporting standards.
- Develop tools and reporting processes that support audits involving Epic users, billing, coding, Revenue Cycle, payroll, financial accounting and general operational activity
- Assist in ensuring reporting is accurate, understandable, documented, and aligned with the operational goals of the organization.
- Stay informed about Business Intelligence industry trends, emerging analytics technologies, and Epic enhancements to continuously improve solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned
