Overview We are seeking a full-time Senior Cost Analyst at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for performing advanced support services in the accounting, verifying, and documenting of company cost and inventory transactions, ensuring accuracy and providing insights and analysis into their impact on gross margin. Essential Functions Exhibit a strong background in cost accounting, excel in financial analysis, and has effective communication skills to facilitate collaboration across teams Perform general ledger account analysis and reconciliation related to inventory and cost accounts Generate reports and analysis, highlighting financial impacts of cost transactions on gross margin Support key business initiatives through preparation of manufacturing cost analysis reports Monitor cost/inventory transactions to ensure physical inventory and costing accuracy Perform month-end journal entries and assist with the closing process Track and analyze standard cost variances, ensuring accounting accuracy and appropriateness in the capitalization and timing of recognition Perform freight and duty inventory capitalization calculations Prepare global inventory turn calculations by locations/segment Understand intercompany transaction flows by inventory location in various jurisdictions around the world Strong knowledge of intercompany transfer pricing and provide global support as needed Understand BOM (bill of material) and routing cost roll-up functions Communicate effectively with global operations support staff regarding purchasing, sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, and warehousing Review/analyze indirect manufacturing expenses and prepare overhead rate calculations Provide world-wide business support to operations and financial management teams Effectively communicate cost update maintenance timing and needs throughout organization Perform various tests of and strive for improvements in internal controls Implement change to improve efficiency of processes and procedures and assist in more complex and specialized accounting support functions Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field AND a minimum of 4 years experience working in a complex accounting environment Must demonstrate knowledge of basic accounting theory and methods, particularly as it relates to inventory, standard costing, and intercompany pricing Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Experience handling special projects, including strong analytical analysis Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a strong problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and demonstrate analytical ability in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (specifically Microsoft Excel) Desired Qualifications CPA and/or CMA Experience with Oracle or similar ERP applications Experience in public accounting Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
