GBS Chevron Global Business Services (GBS), located in Buenos Aires (Puerto Madero), Argentina, is accepting applications for the position of Sr. Data Analyst. Successful candidates will join the center, which is part of a multifunction service and technical center with a workforce of more than 1800 employees that deliver business services and solutions to the corporation across the globe.
Overview:
The Trading Insights Data Analyst partners with business stakeholders, traders, Product Owners, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists to deliver data-driven solutions that support decision-making across Chevron's global Supply & Trading organization. The role combines business analysis, data analysis, reporting, testing, and data product enablement to translate business needs into actionable insights and scalable analytics solutions.
Serving as a key liaison between business and technical teams, the Data Analyst develops expertise in trading processes and market fundamentals, leads requirements gathering and stakeholder workshops, validates solution designs through report and dashboard mock-ups, supports self-service analytics, identifies data quality gaps, and ensures delivered solutions meet business needs through solution validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), and business sign-off.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Develop business acumen across Crude, Refined Products, NGLs, Natural Gas, LNG, and related trading domains.
- Lead business-facing requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Elicit, document, and manage business, functional, reporting, and data requirements.
- Create and validate report, dashboard, and data model mock-ups to confirm business requirements and solution approaches.
- Guide business users and Citizen Developers in discovering, understanding, joining, and utilizing enterprise data products while promoting self-service analytics best practices.
- Identify, document, and coordinate resolution of data quality issues across data sources, datasets, and reporting solutions.
- Perform data validation and functional testing of reports, dashboards, analytics solutions, and data products.
- Coordinate UAT activities, including test planning, execution, defect management, and stakeholder sign-off.
- Validate delivered applications, analytics, reports, and dashboards against business requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with Technical Leads, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that create measurable business value.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role supporting data, analytics, reporting, or business intelligence solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business needs into actionable requirements and data-driven solutions.
- Experience leading business-facing requirements gathering sessions, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and documentation of business and functional requirements.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL, or similar business intelligence platforms.
- Proficiency in SQL for data exploration, analysis, validation, and troubleshooting, including experience working with relational databases and complex datasets to support reporting, business analysis, and data quality investigations.
- Ability to develop and validate report, dashboard, and data model mock-ups to facilitate solution design and stakeholder alignment.
- Experience coordinating and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test planning, test case development, execution, defect management, and stakeholder sign-off.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, Product Owners, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and delivery teams.
- Ability to coordinate work across global business and delivery teams spanning multiple regions and time zones.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting analytics, reporting, data, or AI solutions within the Oil & Gas, Energy, Commodities, or Supply & Trading domain.
- Knowledge of trading businesses and market fundamentals related to Crude, Refined Products, Natural Gas, NGLs, LNG, or other commodity markets.
- Experience enabling self-service analytics and supporting business users or Citizen Developers in discovering and utilizing enterprise data products.
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality management, metadata, and enterprise data cataloging concepts.
- Experience working in Agile and/or SAFe delivery environments.
- Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) for backlog management, requirements tracking, testing, and work management.
- Exposure to Data Science, Machine Learning, Generative AI, or Agentic AI use cases and business applications.
