Job Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person interview, which may include a live whiteboarding or technical assessment session.

Ā

This role serves as the critical financial connective tissue between the engineering roadmap and cloud consumption by integrating directly into project lifecycles to ensure cloud valuation and cost estimation are core components of every new initiative. By enriching current intake workflows with high-fidelity cost data and value modeling, this position enables rapid product development while maintaining a clear understanding of the financial footprint and ROI of architectural choices. The primary focus involves solving the challenge of bridging technical designs with executive-level financial reporting and strategic resource allocation in a fast-paced technology environment.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives)

  • Embed directly into existing engineering "front-door" and project approval workflows to establish cloud cost estimation as a standardized requirement for all new features and architectural designs.

  • Partner closely with architects and engineering teams to translate technical requirements like IOPS, data transfer, and compute into predictive cost models and high-fidelity financial projections.

  • Define, track, and present key financial and operational metrics to senior leadership, measuring the actual value and ROI of deployed AI initiatives against initial project forecasts.

  • Implement and scale a value-capture framework across the AI delivery lifecycle, educating stakeholders on templates, roles, and responsibilities from intake to feasibility assessment.

  • Provide strategic financial expertise and recommendations during project vetting, actively identifying cloud cost-avoidance opportunities such as serverless or graviton-based architectures before resources are provisioned.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting views comparing projected versus actual costs of new initiatives to enhance the financial accuracy of the intake and forecasting processes.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Core Skills and Competencies (What you’ll bring)

  • Deep expertise in Excel-driven financial modeling, business case development, and valuation methodologies, with the ability to manipulate complex data using SQL and BI tools.

  • Direct professional experience working with AI/ML technologies, including a solid grasp of LLMs, prompt engineering, and the core cost drivers of computational resources and data pipelines.

  • Hands-on experience building AI chatbots, using low-code/no-code platforms, or leveraging APIs to build internal productivity tools to drive operational efficiency.

  • A collaborative and organized approach to project management, enabling effective partnership with cross-functional teams and the ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable engineering insights.

  • Strong strategic thinking and process design capabilities, with a focus on rigor, scalability, and establishing clear workflows, templates, and user guides for technical stakeholders.

  • A player-coach mindset with the ability to educate and train business leaders on technology valuation, cloud consumption, and the financial impact of architectural choices.

Additional Qualifications

  • Cloud-specific AI certifications such as AWS Certified AI Practitioner, Google Cloud Professional ML Engineer, or Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals.

  • An MBA, CFA, or equivalent advanced professional credential.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, technology-focused environment or within the telecommunications industry.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • Minimum Experience: 5 years of experience in finance, corporate development, or valuation-focused roles.

  • Required Technical Skills: Must have at least 3 years of experience with:

    • AWS, Azure, or GCP billing platforms and cloud architecture

    • Excel and SQL for manipulating large billing datasets and correlating with metadata

    • Building financial and valuation models for technical infrastructure or SaaS products
