Job Description:
The Library is seeking applications for the position of Senior Library Technologist (SLT)- Systems Analyst /Library Web and Discovery Systems / Digital Technologies to work in Digital Technologies in the Library. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing skilled tasks in support of the Library’s web and discovery services. Provides services with the creation and ongoing maintenance of the Library's website, various discovery systems, and integrated applications. This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday as a member of the Library’s bargaining unit staff. This is a remote position.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
● Assists with the ongoing maintenance and management of library systems, including BruKnow (Alma/Primo), and other discovery platforms and systems, including custom APIs, proxy servers, and identity management
● Troubleshoot discovery-related issues and provide analysis to contribute to problem resolution
● Creates and maintains static and dynamic web pages and sites
● Assists in creating scripts to automate data analysis and remediation tasks in support of the library’s web presence
● Adapts, expands, optimizes, updates, debugs, and documents HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and other web technologies
● Writes, edits or adapts programming scripts, modules, and application functionality using APIs
● Documents scripts and code
● Keeps informed of new developments in library technologies, digital accessibility and related topics
● Performs related duties as required
Supervisor: Head of Library Discovery Systems and Design
Work is performed independently under general direction; makes independent judgments and decisions within the scope of library policies and procedures.Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field; or two-year college degree in information technology or related field and equivalent experience; or equivalent work experience.
● 2 years experience in a systems analyst role on a technical/information technology team
● Experience with HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, Python, and APIs
● Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices
● Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
● Capacity to learn new technologies and systems quickly
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond to critical issues in a timely manner
● Demonstrated ability to bring tasks to completion and close the communication loop with colleagues and stakeholders
● Ability to work in a team-based environment and to actively participate in team-based decision making
● Ability to perform detailed work accurately with reasonable speed
● Successful completion of a test may be required
