Job Description

As Senior Manager Data Protection, you will help strengthen the secure, trusted technology environment that enables TAL to deliver for customers when they need us most. Working within our Cyber Defence team, this role plays a meaningful part in safeguarding TAL’s most sensitive data, supporting responsible innovation and building confidence across our people, partners and customers. In this role you will:
- Strengthen TAL’s data protection controls to reduce exposure to data loss and insider risk.
- Lead insider risk operations to detect, investigate and contain threats with confidence.
- Accelerate response to data risk through integrated monitoring, automation and analytics.
- Drive trusted partnerships across Legal, Risk, Privacy, HR and Compliance.
- Provide actionable insights that improve governance, control effectiveness and risk decisions.
- Build specialist capability across data security, insider risk and cyber defence practices.
Qualifications
- Bring strong experience in cyber, information security or IT, including people leadership in data protection, insider risk or information security.
- Apply practical knowledge of DLP, CASB, data classification and user behaviour analytics tools across enterprise environments.
- Understand insider risk practices, including sensitive data discovery, behavioural insights and security monitoring integration.
- Use knowledge of APRA CPS 234, the Privacy Act and NIST CSF to support strong data protection governance.
- Communicate complex data risk matters clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Hold, or be working towards, relevant industry certifications such as CISM or CISSP.
