Our Network Operations team works around the clock running United’s global operation, safely, reliably and efficiently. From dispatching and routing our fleet to coordinating with maintenance line planning and crew scheduling, this team makes caring connections with our internal customers and ultimately, United’s customers. From pushback to landing, the Network Operations team is the eyes and ears on the ground no matter where in the world your United flight takes you.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Senior Manager, NOC Fleet Management and Aircraft Routing, leads the Aircraft Routing team and oversees and manages the team's performance. This role provides strategic and operational leadership by managing real-time challenges and driving initiatives that improve reliability and efficiency. This is a highly collaborative role that works closely with other NOC teams, Tech Ops teams, Airport Operations, Network Planning, and many other partners to resolve operational issues, optimize aircraft routing, implement schedule changes, and support operational and business objectives.
- Lead the Aircraft Routing team to the successful completion of operational goals through customer-driven decisions, critical thinking, and efficient planning
- Continuously monitor and mitigate operational risks by tracking aircraft and fleet status throughout planning phases and tactical operations
- Initiate and promote cross-divisional collaboration and partnerships to optimize aircraft routings, working closely with NOC teams, Technical Operations, Airport Operations, Network Planning, and other departments
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to drive ongoing enhancements to team policies, procedures, and standardization
- Drive the advancement of future tools, technology, and resources, and implement strategies to sustain operational success
- Coach and mentor the Aircraft Routing team, including managers, routers, and other team members, to develop capabilities and performance
- Oversees department hiring, retention and training programs (i.e. new hire/recurrent training, campus hiring.)
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of related airline experience in Aviation, Business, Finance, Engineering, etc.
- 10+ years of airline experience
- 4+ years in a leadership position, directing people
- Experience leading, motivating, and coaching operational teams.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Airport and/or Network Operations.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across a broad range of support teams
- Ability to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of new technology, processes and procedures.
- Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and technical skills using industry and United applications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products (Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Must be able to work all shifts and holidays as required
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master's degree
- FAA Airman Certificate, Dispatch, A&P, PMP
- 5+ years of experience in an NOC role
- 5+ years of experience in aircraft routing, network planning, and/or maintenance planning.
- Knowledge of airline operations, including network planning, maintenance planning, flight operations, and/or inflight operations.
- Understanding of United’s fleet and route network
- Experience in continuous improvement and developing action plans based on root cause analysis.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
The base pay range for this role is $127,870.00 to $166,492.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
