Who we are looking for
The State Street Middleware Data Transport Team supports multiple Managed File Transfer (MFT) products across the Bank. We are seeking a highly skilled MFT expert to design, implement, and optimize secure, scalable, and resilient file transfer solutions within hybrid and multi-cloud environments. This role requires deep expertise in Managed File Transfer (MFT) technologies, automation, cloud security, and DevOps best practices. The ideal candidate will drive the modernization, automation, and governance of file transfer workflows, ensuring compliance, performance, and operational efficiency.
The position requires effective communication and technical skills with a willingness to learn and implement best-in-class tools and strategies. The candidate must be willing to design and implement solutions, work on new technology projects and improve the current Data Transport application stack.
What you will be responsible for
As Data Transport Engineer, you will
- Design and implement highly available, scalable, and secure MFT solution across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments
- Manage and optimize enterprise MFT platforms (Axway B2Bi, IBM Connect Direct) and provide Level 3 support for business-critical workflows
- Implement observability & logging using Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana
- Provide technical leadership, best practices, and knowledge sharing for Operational team
- Effectively participate in ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, Change, Capacity management
- Serve as a client liaison and a point of escalation for internal and external customers
- Work on continuous service improvement focusing on automation and service standardization
- Initiate and manage vulnerability remediation, patching, upgrades, and hardware life cycle to ensure we remain current with technology solutions and meet client needs.
What we value
These skills will help you succeed in this role
- 8+ years of experience in Managed File Transfer (MFT) administration, automation, and Cloud integration
- Deep understanding of secure file transfer protocols (SFTP/FTPS/HTTPS/SSH/CD)
- Hands-on experience with Managed File Transfer platforms such as Axway B2Bi, Interchange, Sentinel, IBM-Connect Direct or other MFT platforms and in-house File Transfer solutions
- Experience on SSL certificates renewals, PGP encryption/decryption process and authentication procedure in Connect Direct via Secure+
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform)
- Good to have exposure on Premier DataOne products like Spazio, MFX and IBM Control Centre, IBM Sterling Secure Proxy
- Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Experience on Autosys jobs scheduler
- Experience with Linux/Windows Operating systems
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure)
- Experience migrating on-prem MFT to Cloud-based solutions
Additional requirements
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to multitask, manage high-priority initiatives and coordinate the activities with Service Delivery and Engineering teams to completion.
- Ability to work in a team setting with a diverse group: operations support resources, SSC client services representatives, application and service delivery teams.
Work Schedule
- No Hybrid Working. It is fully Working from Office
- Schedule – APAC (6 am to 3 pm) or EMEA (2 pm to 11 pm)
- Location – Bangalore or Hyderabad (Candidates not willing to relocate need not apply)

The team you will be joining is a part of Platform Engineering SRE, a function that is vital to the company as we execute over 2 million job runs per day in Autosys, support 3,500 web sites on over 3,000 servers (both internal and external facing), 5 Billion messages per day traverse Kafka and MQ across more than 150,000 queues, and we handle over 2 million file transfers per day. State Street is one of 6 banks designated by the federal reserve as GSIB (Global Systemically Important Bank) with nearly 4 trillion USD in AUM. Our Middleware platforms touch all areas of the company and are the vital plumbing serving all of the banks activities. As a GSIB we operate under a strict oversight program from the Federal Reserve and have to ensure our systems are operating at full capacity 24/7.
