Senior Reference Data Associate (Japanese Language Required
Job Purpose
Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate to join our Sustainable Finance Operations team, supporting the ICE Climate Product Suite. This role centres on the analysis and reporting of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data, with responsibilities including the collection, validation, analysis, and interpretation of ESG datasets. The ideal candidate will also contribute to content development, process optimization, and the implementation of ESG best practices. The focus of this position is to perform this work with documents written in either Japanese or English language.
This position requires successful completion of a structured training program to build subject matter expertise and proficiency in using internal databases. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams—including training, business analysis, data quality, and customer support—to enhance the quality, completeness, and timeliness of ESG data. Additionally, the role includes aligning ICE’s ESG datasets with external ESG frameworks through detailed mapping exercises.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, interpret, and transform ESG data from corporate reports, third-party sources, and vendor platforms.
- Ensure ESG reference data is accurate, comprehensive, and delivered in a timely manner across ICE products and services.
- Apply subject matter expertise to make informed decisions and draw insights from complex ESG datasets.
- Support ESG product users by resolving data-related inquiries and providing expert guidance.
- Conduct advanced internet research and engage with companies and media agencies to source reliable ESG content.
- Identify and implement workflow enhancements to improve data accuracy, timeliness, and operational efficiency.
- Produce exception trend reports and support ongoing data quality monitoring initiatives.
- Investigate root causes of data discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in cross-functional projects focused on process optimization and ESG data quality improvement.
- Map ICE’s ESG datasets to external ESG frameworks and standards.
- Help identify trends and causations of inaccurate and/or incomplete data.
Knowledge and Experience
- BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Environmental or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in English and Japanese is essential to communicate with English and Japanese stakeholders and work with documents in those languages
- Demonstrated, relevant work experience directly working in fixed income reference data /Environmental science operations or customer service
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressured, fluid environment
- Ability to distill large amounts of information into specific takeaways
- Excellent attention to detail and high degree of demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability to craft client-ready correspondences
- Eagerness to learn and collaborate with others
- Strong excel skills required
- This role requires work to be performed 5 days/week from office.
