Job overview and responsibilities


The Global Procurement - Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager manages sourcing for their respective category and leads cross-functional supplier qualification and sourcing activities for assigned category This role is the strategic interface towards supplier and accountable for building strong and strategic supplier relationships; ensure alignment, anticipate changes, and drive activities based on supply market changes and recommendations of task forces.

The Global Procurement - Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager supports United’s Global Procurement team by successfully leading sourcing initiatives within the designated categories.  This role is responsible for meeting and exceeding business objectives in terms of scope of service, quality, risk mitigation, delivery timing, and cost.

 

  • Manage-end-to-end accountability for defining the category and supplier strategy with stakeholders in line with the guidance of the commercial task force
  • Drive supplier selection according to category strategy, supplier base development, recommendation for the task forces, and identification of new suppliers
  • Negotiate contractual terms to drive savings and reduce overall risks while ensuring stakeholders’ needs are met
  • Ensures alignment, anticipate changes, and drive activities based on supply market changes and recommendations of task forces
  • Manage business relationships with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers including routine enhancements to agreements, communication of demand/volume changes, updating contracts and sharing end-user feedback
  • Promotes co-operation and communication between internal stakeholders across participating entities
  • Lead the creation and management of Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ), and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to solicit bids and evaluate suppliers
  • Leverage Coupa knowledge to streamline purchasing, track orders, and manage supplier relationships
  • Utilize criteria such as cost, quality, delivery, and capacity to select the best suppliers
     

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, or another business-related field
  • 3+ years of consulting, sourcing, legal, audit, or finance experience
  • Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving skills 
  • Strong communication, negotiation and relationship building skills
  • Strong cross functional leadership skills
  • Experience with both internal stakeholder and supplier relationship management,
  • Ability to work independently
  • Efficient conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent market information analysis skills and supply market knowledge
  • Skilled in strategic minded project management
  • Works well in high-paced cross-functional environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

 

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

 

  • Master's degree
  • MBA
  • CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager)
  • Track record in Strategic Procurement  
  • Previous experience with assigned category preferred
  • Experience/understanding of airport operations, business partners, contracts, policy and any compliance efforts
  • Experience with transportation fuel, aviation fuel
  • Proficient in data analysis and visualization, reporting and business intelligence tools

The base pay range for this role is $102,220.00 to $133,194.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
