The Transportation Analyst is responsible for supporting Medtronic's transportation operations by driving carrier performance, transportation analytics, service execution, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role partners closely with Distribution, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and third-party logistics providers to ensure safe, compliant, cost-effective, and reliable transportation services that meet customer expectations.

The Transportation Analyst uses data-driven insights to improve operational performance, resolve transportation issues, monitor key performance indicators, and support strategic transportation initiatives.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Monitor transportation performance and service levels across domestic and international transportation providers.
  • Analyze transportation data, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve service, quality, and cost performance.
  • Develop and maintain transportation KPIs, dashboards, and performance reporting.
  • Support carrier governance processes, including scorecards, business reviews, and corrective action management.
  • Investigate transportation service failures and delivery exceptions, including delays, damages, shortages, missed pickups, and other customer-impacting events.
  • Coordinate issue resolution with carriers, distribution centers, customer service teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Review transportation costs, freight invoices, and billing discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Support transportation sourcing events, carrier implementations, and network optimization initiatives.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities that improve transportation efficiency, customer experience, and cost performance.
  • Support business continuity planning and transportation risk mitigation activities.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects involving transportation, distribution, customer service, planning, and quality functions.
  • Ensure transportation processes comply with applicable Medtronic quality, regulatory, and operational requirements.
  • Support transportation system enhancements, reporting tools, and future transportation management system capabilities.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, distribution, operations, or related field.
  • Experience analyzing operational performance data and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience working with transportation providers, logistics service providers, or distribution operations.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar analytical tools.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of transportation processes, carrier operations, and logistics performance metrics.

Nice to Have

  • Medical device, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated industry experience.
  • Experience supporting transportation RFQs or carrier sourcing events.
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), or ERP platforms.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience supporting regional or multi-site distribution networks.
  • Advanced data analytics and reporting capabilities.
