At <a title="" href="https://www.nationalgrid.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National Grid</a>, we're delivering critical infrastructure projects that will connect more renewable energy, strengthen energy security and support the transition to a net-zero future.</p> <p> </p> <p>We're looking for a <strong>Safety, Health, Environment and Sustainability </strong><strong>(SHES) Performance Analyst</strong> to help us understand, improve and influence SHES performance across some of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure projects.</p> <p> </p> <p>This is more than a reporting role.</p> <p> </p> <p>You'll work directly with project teams, delivery partners and senior leaders, using data and insight to shape decisions, challenge thinking and drive meaningful performance improvements. You'll bring the story behind the data to life, helping teams understand not just <em>what</em> is happening, but <em>why</em> and <em>what needs to happen next</em>.</p> <p> </p> <p>If you're passionate about analytics, sustainability, protecting people &amp; the environment, and influencing positive change, we'd love to hear from you.</p> <p> </p> <p>This role offers hybrid working, with flexibility to travel across England and Wales for team collaboration and site visits.</p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>What you'll be doing</b></H2> </div><div><p>Working across Strategic Infrastructure's multi-billion-pound portfolio of nationally significant infrastructure projects, you'll use data and insight to influence decisions that support the safe and sustainable delivery of the UK's future energy network. </p> <p> </p> <p>You'll:</p> <ul> <li>Support the development of next-generation SHES intelligence capabilities, including advanced analytics, predictive insights and emerging AI-enabled reporting solutions.</li> <li>Develop and enhance SHES dashboards, KPIs and performance reporting using Power BI.</li> <li>Analyse complex datasets to identify performance trends, emerging risks, and opportunities.</li> <li>Transform data into clear, engaging insights that support decision-making and drive action.</li> <li>Present performance findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership teams.</li> <li>Partner with SHES, PMO, project teams, and delivery partners to improve outcomes and performance culture.</li> <li>Challenge existing processes and help improve data quality, governance, and reporting standards.</li> <li>Support environmental and sustainability reporting across key priority areas including Net Zero, Nature, Resources and Social Value.</li> <li>Support Safety &amp; Health reporting across key areas ensuring a balanced focus on both leading &amp; lagging metrics.</li> <li>Help build a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement through data-led insights.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>What we're looking for</b></H2> </div><div><p>We're looking for someone who combines strong analytical capability with excellent stakeholder engagement skills. You'll be naturally curious, proactive and comfortable influencing others through evidence-based insight.</p> <p> </p> <p>You'll have:</p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Experience analysing and reporting SHES, HSE, ESG, sustainability, operational or business performance data.</li> <li>Strong Power BI and DAX skills (or equivalent visualisation tool) coupled with experience using SQL and designing dashboards and visualisations.</li> <li>Knowledge of key performance metrics such as LTI, TRIR, Near Misses, Hazard Observations, Environmental Incidents, Carbon, Waste, Resource Efficiency and Social Value measures.</li> <li>The ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.</li> <li>Experience presenting performance trends, risks and opportunities to diverse stakeholder groups.</li> <li>A track record of influencing decision-making and driving continuous improvement through insight.</li> <li>Knowledge of SHES legislation, regulatory requirements and sustainability reporting frameworks.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in:</p> <ul type="disc"> <li>SHES and HSE performance</li> <li>ESG and sustainability reporting</li> <li>Business intelligence and data analytics</li> <li>PMO and project performance reporting</li> <li>Operational performance and continuous improvement</li> <li>Infrastructure, utilities, construction, engineering, or other complex operational environments would be advantageous.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>What you'll get</b></H2> </div><div><p>A competitive salary between £46,000 - £52,000 – dependent on capability.</p> <p> </p> <p>As well as your base salary, <a title="" href="https://jobs.nationalgrid.com/uk/life-national-grid/benefits?locale=en_GB" target="_blank" rel="noopener">you will receive</a> a bonus based on personal performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
