SOC Analyst III
Location: San José, Costa Rica
World Fuel is seeking an experienced SOC Analyst III to join our global Cybersecurity Operations team. This role is ideal for a cybersecurity professional who thrives in a fast paced environment and enjoys a blend of threat detection, incident response, security engineering, vulnerability management, and automation.
As a senior member of the CyberOps team, you will help protect World Fuel's global technology environment by monitoring security events, investigating threats, leading remediation efforts, and continuously improving our security capabilities. You will work with modern security technologies across cloud, endpoint, network, and data protection platforms while collaborating with teams across multiple regions.
This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the organization's security posture while helping drive the maturity of a global cybersecurity program.
What You'll Do
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to cybersecurity alerts and incidents across enterprise systems, networks, cloud environments, and security platforms.
- Perform threat hunting, digital forensic investigations, root cause analysis, and incident response activities.
- Analyze security events, logs, endpoint activity, and network traffic to identify suspicious or malicious activity.
- Lead and support the implementation, optimization, and operationalization of cybersecurity tools and initiatives aligned with industry frameworks including NIST and PCI.
- Manage and support vulnerability management activities, partnering with infrastructure and application teams to reduce risk and drive remediation efforts.
- Enhance and tune security monitoring capabilities, ensuring security tools, event logs, and data sources provide effective threat detection coverage.
- Develop and optimize detection rules, correlation logic, dashboards, automation workflows, and security playbooks.
- Monitor threat intelligence sources, security advisories, and emerging cyber threats to proactively strengthen defenses.
- Lead security projects involving tool deployment, platform enhancements, security automation, and vulnerability remediation initiatives.
- Conduct packet analysis, log analysis, and forensic investigations while coordinating with third party partners when required.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, runbooks, and incident response playbooks.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members and assist during complex investigations.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, network engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline with a focus on security.
- 4+ years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC), Incident Response, Digital Forensics, Threat Detection, or similar cybersecurity role.
- Hands on experience investigating and responding to security incidents in enterprise environments.
- Experience working with security technologies such as:
- SIEM platforms
- Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)
- Vulnerability Management solutions
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Email Security platforms
- Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
- Experience with scripting, APIs, security automation, SOAR platforms, or orchestration tools.
- Knowledge of cloud security concepts and technologies, preferably within AWS and Azure environments.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, packet analysis, log analysis, operating systems, and security monitoring concepts.
- Experience creating technical documentation, process workflows, and operational procedures.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Professional certifications such as:
- CISSP
- CISM
- CEH
- GIAC certifications
- AWS Security or Solutions Architect certifications
- Microsoft Azure Security certifications
- Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards including:
- NIST
- PCI DSS
- SOC 1 / SOC 2
- ISO 27001 / ISO 27002
- HIPAA
