Overview

The Solution Analyst sits within Cotiviti’s Business Architecture organization and serves as the connective tissue between business strategy and technical delivery. Partnering with Research & Development (R&D), product management, and operational stakeholders, this role translates strategic priorities into well-defined solution requirements, evidence-based process designs, and product decisions that advance Cotiviti’s mission to reshape the economics of healthcare.

Reporting to the director of business architecture, the Solution Analyst is expected to bring rigor, curiosity, and a client-first mindset to every engagement — challenging assumptions, surfacing dependencies, and ensuring that what gets built solves the problem that was actually asked.

Responsibilities

Business analysis

  • Elicit, document, and validate business requirements from stakeholders across product, operations, clinical, analytics, and technology teams.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria that R&D teams can execute against without ambiguity.
  • Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability from initial concept through implementation, testing, and post-deployment validation.
  • Facilitate requirements review and sign-off sessions, driving alignment between business sponsors and technical delivery teams.
  • Identify and document non-functional requirements including performance, security, compliance, and interoperability constraints relevant to healthcare payers.
  • Serve as the primary business liaison to R&D engineering and data science teams, and validate that delivered solutions meet business intent through user acceptance testing and structured feedback loops.

Process analysis

  • Conduct current-state assessments of business processes, capturing workflows, handoffs, systems, data flows, and control points.
  • Map end-to-end processes using standard notations such as BPMN and swim lane diagrams, and maintain a shared library of reference process artifacts.
  • Identify inefficiencies, redundancies, control gaps, and automation opportunities; quantify impact where possible.
  • Design future-state processes that align with business architecture standards, product capabilities, and enterprise data models.
  • Support change readiness by documenting process impacts, training needs, and operational handoffs prior to release.

Product management

  • Partner with product management to shape product roadmaps informed by market signals, client feedback, competitive analysis, and internal capability assessments.
  • Prioritize features and backlog items based on business value, effort, risk, and strategic fit.
  • Draft product briefs, feature specifications, release notes, and internal enablement materials that describe the what, why, and how of each capability.
  • Support release planning, launch readiness reviews, and post-release performance monitoring against defined success metrics.
  • Represent the voice of the client throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring solutions map back to real payer, provider, or operational pain points.
  • Partner with R&D throughout delivery — participating in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, and reviews) and supporting proof-of-concept and prototype evaluations.
  • Contribute a clear business perspective to R&D estimation, feasibility, and technical trade-off discussions, translating technical findings into business-relevant terms for leadership.
  • Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and skills required. This job description does not constitute an employment agreement and is subject to change as the needs of Cotiviti and requirements of the job change.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, information systems, industrial engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Three or more years of professional experience in business analysis, solution analysis, systems analysis, or product management.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering requirements from diverse stakeholders and translating them into artifacts that engineering teams can execute.
  • Proficiency in process modeling tools such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, or comparable platforms, and comfort with BPMN or equivalent notation.
  • Experience working in agile or scrum environments, including familiarity with backlog management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Rally.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to move fluently between executive summaries and detailed technical specifications.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to structure ambiguous problems, form hypotheses, and validate them with data.

Preferred qualifications

  • Direct healthcare experience, particularly with payers, health plans, or payment integrity, quality, or risk adjustment programs.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, EDI 837, EDI 835, and standard code sets including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
  • Professional certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, CSPO, SAFe POPM, or Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and comfort querying relational datasets to validate assumptions independently.
  • Exposure to enterprise or business architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or the Business Architecture Guild BIZBOK.
  • Experience contributing to SaaS or platform product development at scale.

Job Demands:

  • This is a work-at-home position.  Access to high-speed internet is required (all other equipment will be provided).
  • Must be able to sit and use a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • Must have flexibility and willingness to participate in the work processes of an international organization, including conference calls scheduled to accommodate global time zones.
  • After hours and/or weekend work required where necessary for major deliverables/deadlines (not consistent).

Mental Requirements:

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
