Ko wai mātou – About us

Kia ora.  We’re Foodies.  You know New World, PAK’nSAVE, Gilmours and Four Square right? That’s us!

With 300+ stores and over 24,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Maui, our North Island Co-op has the privilege of helping New Zealanders get more out of life.

Te Tūranga – About the Role

This is a fixed term role for 10 months covering maternity leave.  You’ll play a key role in delivering innovative, customer-led merchandise strategies that not only meet but exceed expectations!

You will be involved in:

  • Designing and developing floor plans for new stores, refits, and tailored store requests in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Creating category schematics and planograms that bring our strategies to life.
  • Developing optimised product ranges that reflect customer insights and data.
  • Supporting Category Managers with strategic planning using the latest technology and analytics.

Your work will directly influence how our customers experience our stores — making shopping easier, more enjoyable, and more relevant.

He kōrero mōu – About You

We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of retail environments and how customers shop, rather than purely technical or analytical experience. You may have a background in floor planning, store design, planogramming, visual merchandising, retail operations, or customer experience, and understand how store layouts and product placement can influence both shopper behaviour and commercial performance.

You’ll bring a curious and proactive mindset, a passion for FMCG, and a willingness to learn. Previous experience in a supermarket or similar retail environment, particularly with exposure to planogramming or space planning, would be highly valued. Experience using Symphony or similar space planning software is advantageous but not essential.

To succeed in this role, you'll be highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. You'll have strong analytical skills, confidence working with data and Excel, and the ability to translate insights into practical solutions. Just as importantly, you'll be an effective communicator who builds strong relationships across teams and is excited by the opportunity to shape store layouts and create better shopping experiences for customers.

Ngā painga - What we offer

We’re committed to providing awesome experiences for our people, including offering a range of benefits

  • Free carparking - we’ve got over 1,000 carparks including EV plugs
  • Onsite café with subsidised meals, mini mart, 5% discount at our retail stores
  • Flexible working options & a day off on your birthday
  • Inhouse learning and development programmes and courses, flu vaccinations, and social network groups (we call them Tribes).

Experience awesome. Achieve awesome. Be awesomely you.

We’re proud to have a focus on Diversity & Inclusion here at Foodies and welcome courageous behaviour, encourage togetherness, inspire our people to be their best selves in our Foodies whānau.

We encourage you to apply with all your awesomeness and welcome your diverse background, including any disability, additional health and mental health needs, and/or neurodiversity.
