This job is responsible for contributing to the functional systems and technology department with technical expertise. Job Description

  • Job Overview:
    • Billing & Payments plays a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and customer focused financial processing across Billing.
    • The role supports payment reconciliation, refund and credit processing, automatic compensation workflows, and telephony spend management to ensure every transaction is right first time.
    • This specialist safeguards revenue, maintains robust financial controls, and contributes to a seamless customer billing experience.
  • Role:
    • To execute high quality operational processes within Billing & Payments, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
    • The Specialist acts as a subject matter expert for day-to-day financial workflows, investigates anomalies, resolves queries, and supports continuous improvement across Billing.
  • Key Responsibilities for this Role:
    • Billing Accuracy & Process Management
      • Ensure accurate billing for UK and ROI customers across multiple products and services.
      • Manage complex billing journeys, including telephony spend and mobile data usage.
    • Operational Support
      • Proactively support Billing in achieving strategic and operational goals.
      • Support process improvement and engage stakeholders to drive efficiency.
    • Reporting & Compliance
      • Create and maintain dashboards and management information reporting.
      • Support audit and compliance processes to meet regulatory and internal standards.
    • Collaborate with analysts and managers to implement system or process changes effectively.
    • Act as a point of contact for escalations and complex operational issues.
  • Required skills (Must have):
    • Exceptional attention to detail – able to spot anomalies and ensure zero defect accuracy in financial processing.
    • High numerical literacy – comfortable working with figures, reconciliations, and transactional data.
    • Strong accuracy and quality competence – consistent right first time delivery.
    • Analytical thinking – ability to investigate, interpret data, and resolve complex billing or payment issues.
    • Process discipline – able to follow standards, controls, and compliance requirements meticulously.
    • Stakeholder communication – clear, concise communication with peers, team leaders, and cross functional teams.
    • Prioritisation & time management – able to manage daily workloads, SLAs, and multiple concurrent activities.
  • Preferred Skills (Good to have):
    • Experience with billing or payment platforms, reconciliation tools, or CRM systems.
    • Understanding of compensation regulations, financial controls, or audit frameworks.
    • Familiarity with continuous improvement techniques (Lean, automation tools, workflow optimisation).
    • Experience working in operational, finance, or shared service environments.
    • Basic data interpretation skills (e.g., Excel, dashboards, exception reports).
  • Experience:
    • Essential:
      • Exposure to telecommunications, subscription services, or high-volume consumer billing environments.
      • Experience supporting system/process changes or contributing to continuous improvement activity.
      • Demonstrated ability in accuracy dependent processing such as reconciliations, refunds, or transactional operations.
      • Proven track record of working with numerical data and resolving discrepancies.
    • Desirable:
      • Previous experience in a billing, payments, finance operations, shared services, or contact centre support role.
