Job Summary

This role requires a strong blend of architecture, hands-on development, stakeholder management, and strategic solution design.
The candidate should have a robust background in Data architecture, data modeling and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. The candidate should have essential hands-on experience with Advanced SQL and python. Proficiency in building Data Lake and pipelines using Azure/Fabric is highly desirable. Additionally, knowledge and experience in Quality domain is a plus.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics, and data integration requirements.
  • Analyze source systems, business rules, and data dependencies to create clear functional and technical requirement documentation.
  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines, data models, lakehouse/warehouse structures, and reporting-ready datasets using Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services.
  • Create and maintain source-to-target mappings, data flow diagrams, transformation logic, and technical design documents.
  • Apply data modeling principles to support analytical, operational, and reporting use cases.
  • Work with business users and QA teams to support data validation, testing, defect resolution, and sign-offs.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery activities including design, development, testing, migration, production support, user training, and documentation.
  • Optimize SQL queries, data pipelines, semantic models, and reports for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Define and promote best practices for data engineering, data modeling, documentation, code quality, deployment, and support processes.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical direction on Azure/Fabric data engineering solutions.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and data quality issues in complex datasets and convert findings into actionable recommendations.

Required skills:

  • 8 to 12 years of overall experience in data engineering, data architecture, business intelligence, or enterprise data platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services.
  • Experience with Fabric Data Lake, Medallion architecture, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Fabric Lakehouse/Warehouse, Dataflows, Pipelines, and Power BI.
  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support enterprise reporting, analytics, and operational needs.
  • Design end-to-end data solutions leveraging Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, OneLake, Data Pipelines, Dataflows, Notebooks, Semantic Models, and Power BI.
  • Define and enforce data architecture standards, governance frameworks, security models, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts including ETL/ELT, data ingestion, data transformation, data quality, orchestration, and performance optimization.
  • Good working knowledge of data modeling fundamentals, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models, dimensional modeling, facts, dimensions, keys, and relationships.
  • Excellent SQL skills, including writing optimized queries, analyzing complex datasets, and supporting query/report performance tuning.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data architecture, data pipelines, semantic models, and reporting-ready datasets.
  • Experience working with business stakeholders to understand data requirements, define source-to-target mapping, validate outputs, and support testing/sign-offs.
  • Ability to document technical designs, data flows, mappings, dependencies, and end-to-end delivery processes.
  • Good understanding of SAP data, business processes, and enterprise reporting environments is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with business users, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance on data engineering best practices.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working as a Data Architect, Senior Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer, or Fabric Data Engineer in enterprise data environments.
  • Hands-on exposure to Microsoft Fabric components such as Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Data Factory Pipelines, Dataflows, Notebooks, and semantic models.
  • Experience with medallion architecture, lakehouse patterns, data warehouse design, and enterprise reporting datasets.
  • Working knowledge of data governance, data lineage, access controls, naming standards, and reusable data engineering frameworks.
  • Exposure to HANA Modeling, SAP data structures, BusinessObjects, or Tableau is nice to have.
  • Experience working in a captive center or global capability center environment is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and cross-functional environment.

Education

  • IT Graduate (BE, BTech, MCA) preferred
