Your role at Baxter:

You as Sr. Analyst, accountant; will be responsible for the execution of recording of manual journal entries, preparing and approving of account reconciliations, and completing month-end close accounting primarily relating to Payroll & Benefits and regional accrued liabilities processes for the America’s regional (UCAN and LATAM) entities. In addition, this role will provide accounting reports and information to business partners. It will supply data for both in-house and third-party audit assistance. It will also aid in statutory accounting for these areas. This position will also support various ad-hoc projects, as needed.

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure all ad-hoc accounting and month-end accounting close tasks are completed correctly, efficiently, and on-time.
  • Perform and support journal entry completion, posting, and preparation for pre-and-post month end close tasks, including balance sheet variance analysis, among others.
  • Optimally connect with manager and business partners key issues that arise and show skill in discussing end-to-end accounting process flows (T-accounts)
  • Proactively work with manager to discuss team and task priorities; address questions from those who report directly and advance to manager if sophisticated or un clear.
  • Work closely with collaborators and Local Country Finance Leaders to understand, explain, and document key variance drivers related to Payroll and Accrued Liabilities and other such areas.
  • Drive standardization and process improvement/process efficiencies in accounting areas.
  • Provide effective internal accounting controls, which include the correct application of procedures and adherence to Global policies, completion of accounting reconciliations, and compliance with US GAAP and S-Ox policies.
  • Maintain accurate monthly task list of self and direct reports and complete according to the task list; own accounting conclusions and proper US GAAP accounting for all owned tasks, and own efficiency of direct report performance
  • Ensure creation and maintenance of process documentation (i.e., job aids, SOPs, etc) to ensure the documentation is detailed and understandable.
  • Deliver all internal and external audit requirements.
  • Propose, develop, participate and lead projects related to process improvements.

What will you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5+ years experience in ledger based accounting
  • English knowledge (B2+), both written and verbal
  • Continuous learner with a positive approach to learning
  • Attention to detail and ability to understand end-to-end transactional/process flows
  • Work experience in general accounting processes and implementation projects (all stages)
  • Proven track record to prioritize work & problem address with strong analytical skills required
  • Self-starter, proactive learning willing to be a phenomenal teammate and have excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to coach and develop skills of direct reports
  • Strong ERP knowledge (JDE, SAP, Oracle), JDE highly preferred
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot, vlookup, index match and short cut key use)
  • Use of reporting tools (Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, etc.) highly preferred
