Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide. Role Purpose: <ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">As an Application Database Developer you will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining database objects that directly support application functionality. This role acts as a link between application development and database administration, ensuring that data intensive components are performant, scalable, and aligned with business requirements. You will partner with application owners/teams to understand application and business needs.</li> </ul> Key Responsibilities: <ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">The primary focus will be on develop, maintain, and optimize stored procedures, functions, triggers, packages, etc.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Work closely with application developers, DBAs, and business stakeholders.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Deliver high-quality database solutions that enhance application performance, enable efficient data access and support enterprise-wide reliability.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Provide off-hours support, when required, for critical production issues.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Perform Database objects performance review as per customer needs.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Use database expertise and leadership experience to identify and drive improvement efforts related to our database portfolio.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Participate in Change Advisory Board and provide guidance governance on Database changes. Perform problem resolution for complex issues including root cause analysis, and outlining resolution options</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Analyze slow-running queries and identify bottleneck using execution plans.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Recommend and implement indexing strategies; perform root cause analysis on data-related performance issues.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Promote SQL development standards and enforce secure coding practices; maintain documentation for database schemas, business logic, and workflows; participate in code reviews and mentor of others application developers as needed.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Maintain technical knowledge on current and emerging Multi-Cloud developments, industry trends, assesses the opportunity, and collaborates with stakeholders to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Work with the third-party support team (on-shore and off-shore) and application support teams to educate and guide them for steady-state supporting database development related technologies.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Promote and self-demonstrates Corning’s principles of Performance, Leadership, Innovation, Independence, the Individual, Quality, and Integrity.</li> </ul> Experiences/Education – Required <ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">BS degree in Computer Science or other relevant discipline.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">7+ years working in IT as Application Database Developer</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Played pivotal roles as Application Database Developer and support staff across various database technologies</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Knowledgeable in database technologies – Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Solid understanding of relational database concepts; strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience with Linux and Windows OS.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Demonstrated track record of on time delivery within budget; ability to drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures.</li> </ul> Experiences/Education – Desired <ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Should have experience of working in Manufacturing Industry (or similar) to understand the data security requirements like ITAR/PCI/PHI/HIPPA/NIST/SOX etc.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Achievement orientation, creative thinking, and enthusiasm.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Very good presentation skills.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Strong organizational skills.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Self-motivated, ability to pick up things quickly.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Exposure to cloud-based database like AWS RDS, Azure.</li> </ul> Travel <ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt"><10% Travel required.</li> </ul> This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $96,378.00 - $132,520.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
