About the team

Zillow's People Technology organization builds and operates the platforms that power how Zillow employees work: Workday, ServiceNow, and the agentic AI layer connecting these systems to the surfaces employees use every day - Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, and AI tools. The India engineering team owns this platform stack end to end: production access, change ownership, on-call rotation, and direct relationships with the business teams we support.

Zillow Group is a strategic, mission-driven organization focused on delivering exceptional experiences and measurable outcomes. Our work spans cross-functional partnership, scalable programs and operational excellence in support of Zillow’s mission. We bring deep experience working across diverse teams in a dynamic, high-growth environment, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution to drive meaningful business impact. We are seeking an experienced professional to support our workforce expansion in India.

About the role

You are a key contributor to People Technology, leading the way on the most important initiatives, designs, and operational events across the Workday footprint. You design technically and operationally scalable solutions, deliver critical multi-module configuration, and shepherd the quality of the team's work. You are an expert on your team's and customers' systems, processes, and business domain, and you understand how these fit into the larger cross-team architecture. You are relied upon to resolve critical operational incidents, meet essential deadlines, and propose effective designs. Your leadership is felt beyond your immediate team, and you are comfortable working with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead on the most complex and challenging configuration work, designing multi-component solutions across modules and translating ambiguous business needs into effective, maintainable builds

  • Partner with senior HR and business leaders to shape requirements and scope, not just take orders, and push back when scope is unclear

  • Set the standard for how each tool in the Workday toolbox is used (business process framework, condition rules, calculated fields, custom reports and dashboards, RaaS, security configuration, and EIBs for data loads); review others' designs and configurations and hold the team to patterns, testing, and documentation standards

  • Develop frameworks for configuration, data management, and permissioning that reduce data-privacy risk and engineering toil, and drive their adoption across the team

  • Serve as the escalation point for the most difficult and critical incidents; resolve them and ensure they do not recur; set the standard for root cause analysis, dashboards, metrics, and runbooks

  • Lead release management (impact assessment, regression strategy, adoption of new functionality), using AI tools to synthesize release content and decide what is worth pursuing

  • Own the security and configuration governance posture (role assignment, business rules, eligibility) in partnership with security, developing frameworks and standards that reduce toil and data-privacy risk

  • Establish team practices for AI-assisted requirements analysis, documentation, configurate, development, and test planning, and help others build that fluency

  • Mentor analysts and administrators, improving their understanding of core concepts and integrating them into team process

  • Partner comfortably with engineers and architects on integration and Extend design, representing the functional and data perspective

  • Communicate effectively with both business leaders and engineering leaders, documenting decisions and preserving context

This role has been categorized as an Office position. “Office” employees regularly work at the Zillow India office for approximately 80 to 100 percent of their time each month. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Zillow has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute.

In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role are eligible for incentive compensation subject to applicable laws and relevant Zillow policies. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years of HRIS or HR operations experience, with 4+ years of hands-on Workday configuration

  • Deep, hands-on expertise across 3+ Workday modules (HCM required)

  • Demonstrated ownership of ambiguous, multi-stakeholder initiatives from problem definition through delivery

  • Track record of setting standards and mentoring other analysts

  • Excellent stakeholder communication, including the ability to steer a requirements conversation with senior leaders and push back when scope is unclear

  • Fluent with AI tools (Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) across research, documentation, solution design, and test planning, and able to build that fluency in others

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field (B.E./B.Tech/MCA), or equivalent practical experience

  • Preferred Workday Pro certification across multiple modules
