Role Overview: We are seeking a Staff Hardware Test Engineer with 8+ years of experience to join our team in the San Francisco Bay Area. In this hybrid role, you will serve as a key technical leader for design verification testing of the humanoid robot Torso electrical subsystem and components including PCBAs, battery systems, power electronics, and advanced sensors such as cameras and LiDAR. You will own verification strategy and planning, develop robust test infrastructure, lead subsystem-level characterization, and drive improvements in test coverage, engineering rigor, and design robustness. Design Verification Strategy & Planning <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Own the design verification strategy for Torso electrical subsystems and components, including PCBAs, batteries, sensors, and power electronics</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Define verification plans, coverage goals, and test protocols across the product development lifecycle</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Partner with hardware design, systems engineering, and analysis teams to ensure requirements, testability, and verification readiness are addressed early in development</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Maintain clear end-to-end traceability from subsystem requirements through test execution and results</li> </ul> Test Development & Execution <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Develop and execute subsystem-level characterization and design verification testing for torso electronics</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Design automated, repeatable test setups for cameras, LiDAR, battery packs, power distribution, and control electronics</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Build test scripts, tooling, and diagnostics to improve efficiency, repeatability, and data quality</li> </ul> Continuous Improvement & Technical Leadership <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Lead investigation of verification test failures and nonconformances, driving root cause identification and corrective actions in partnership with design teams</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Identify gaps in verification coverage and implement improvements in test infrastructure, processes, and standards</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Document test methods, results, and best practices to scale learning across future development cycles</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of strong engineering rigor, execution, and continuous improvement</li> </ul> Qualifications: <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience:</li> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Minimum of 8 years of experience in test engineering, design verification, or electrical validation</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Strong preference for experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or other complex hardware systems</li> </ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Technical Expertise:</li> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Deep understanding of electronics verification testing, including power, signal integrity, and sensor interfaces with a strong preference for experience with EtherCAT architecture</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience validating battery systems, power distribution, and safety-critical electrical subsystems</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Familiarity with sensor verification (cameras, LiDAR, IMUs) and performance characterization</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Proficiency with lab tools such as oscilloscopes,sensors, logic analyzers, DAQs, power supplies, and environmental test equipment</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Proficiency in python scripting for test automation</li> </ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Skills:</li> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to translate test results into clear design feedback</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities, capable of driving alignment and leading technical discussions across multidisciplinary teams and supplier partners</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Demonstrated ability to execute effectively and drive results in dynamic, highly ambiguous environments.</li> </ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Education:</li> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred)</li> </ul> </ul>   This a hybrid position based out of one of our Fremont, CA office. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
