Job Description

We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $79,500 – $100,700/yr. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. Bath Iron Works (BIW), a General Dynamics company, is seeking a highly driven, inquisitive, and technically skilled individual to join our supply chain team as a Data Process Engineer. This role is ideal for someone who is naturally curious, persistent in problem solving, and motivated to follow complex data issues through to full resolution.  The Data Process Engineer will work closely with the Supply Chain organization, embedding within their daily operations to understand processes, identify data sources, and design desktop-level applications, tools, and analytics that streamline workload and enhance decision-making.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Data Analysis & Application Development:

  • Analyze supply chain processes to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and automation opportunities.
  • Develop desktop tools, dashboards, and applications using MS Access, Excel, Power BI, and/or Tableau to support Supply Chain Specialists in daily tasks.
  • Investigate data issues thoroughly and persistently until root causes are identified and resolved.
  • Build repeatable, reliable data flows that provide users with accurate, timely information.

Collaboration & Process Learning:

  • Embed within Supply Chain teams to deeply understand workflows, constraints, and dependencies.
  • Learn and document data sources, data structures, and system interactions relevant to operational processes.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into sustainable technical solutions.
  • Communicate findings, tool functionality, and recommendations in clear, accessible terms.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate data processes for improvement opportunities around accuracy, speed, or usability.
  • Proactively propose and implement enhancements that improve data integrity and reduce manual workload.
  • Seek innovative solutions to support Supply Chain performance in Safety, Quality, Schedule, Cost, and People.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or other relevant technical field required.

Required/Preferred Experience

Required:

  • Strong curiosity and a natural drive to resolve problems thoroughly and accurately.
  • Technical proficiency with MS Access, MS Excel, Power BI, and Tableau.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to work with complex or incomplete datasets.
  • Ability to learn new processes, systems, and data environments quickly and independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with Supply Chain partners and other stakeholders including engineering, design, and planning.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple efforts simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and solution reliability.

Preferred:

  • 2 years of experience supporting supply chain, operations, planning, or related functions.
  • 2 years of experience developing small-scale applications, dashboards, macros, or automated processes.
