Systems Analyst

We have an immediate opening for a Systems Analyst to support the development of next-generation defense capabilities through mission-focused operational analysis, technical studies, and solution architecture. Working closely with Department of War (DoW) customers, the successful candidate will analyze complex multi-domain operational challenges, develop innovative concepts and requirements, and evaluate mission-level solutions that improve command and control, integrated fires, and decision superiority across joint and coalition operations.

The ideal candidate is an experienced defense analyst who combines operational insight with rigorous analytical methods to solve complex military problems. This individual understands how joint and multi-domain operations are planned, executed, and assessed, and can translate operational challenges into actionable recommendations, system requirements, and technical solutions. They are equally comfortable facilitating discussions with senior military leaders, conducting mission-level analyses, developing operational concepts, and collaborating with engineers to define future capabilities. This position is located in the Pentagon and/or Crystal City, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct mission-level operational analysis supporting U.S. Department of Defense programs focused on multi-domain operations (MDO), Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2), integrated air and missile defense (IAMD), and command and control (C2).
Perform operations research and analytical studies to evaluate military concepts, operational effectiveness, force employment, and mission outcomes.
Develop Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), operational architectures, mission threads, kill chains, and operational workflows.
Analyze operational problems and translate customer needs into measurable system capabilities, operational requirements, and technical recommendations.
Lead analytical efforts supporting capability development, technology assessments, trade studies, alternatives analyses, and operational experimentation.
Develop operational architectures and high-level solution architectures that bridge mission requirements with technical implementation.
Define and document operational requirements, use cases, scenarios, and performance measures to support system development and acquisition activities.
Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, modelers, and subject matter experts to ensure analytical products align with operational objectives.
Prepare and present technical reports, white papers, briefings, and recommendations for senior government and military leadership.
Facilitate technical exchanges and requirements development sessions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Military Science, National Security Studies, or related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education, military service, and directly relevant professional experience will be considered.
Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years performing defense-related systems analysis, operational analysis, or operations research.
Demonstrated experience supporting Department of War customers.
Strong understanding of military planning processes and joint operational concepts.
Experience conducting operational analyses, technical studies, trade studies, or capability assessments for complex defense systems.
Experience developing operational concepts, mission threads, operational workflows, or CONOPS documentation.
Experience translating operational needs into system requirements or architectural recommendations.
Familiarity with requirements development processes.
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, technical writing, and briefing skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with military customers, senior government leadership, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Ability to lead analytical tasks independently with minimal supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical documentation and brief Government leadership.
Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance required.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience supporting Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, or other DoW organizations.
Knowledge of MDO, JADC2, IAMD, Joint Integrated Fires, or Joint Kill Chain concepts.
Experience supporting requirements development within the Defense Acquisition System, including JCIDS, DOTMLPF-P analyses, or capability development efforts.
Familiarity with modeling and simulation environments, campaign analysis, or mission engineering methodologies.
Experience applying operations research techniques such as optimization, statistical analysis, decision analysis, simulation, or wargaming.
Experience developing Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs), Measures of Performance (MOPs), Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), and Key System Attributes (KSAs).
Project Management Professional (PMP) credential
Previous military service or experience supporting operational headquarters, combatant commands, or major acquisition programs.
