Tax Analyst
Job Description:
The Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring full compliance with local tax regulations while optimizing the company’s tax position and minimizing risks. This role involves not only the preparation and filing of tax returns, but also supporting tax planning activities, maintaining accurate tax records, and monitoring changes in tax legislation. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting and tax knowledge with analytical skills and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure accuracy and compliance with all tax obligations.
Job Requirements:
- Calculate and determine provisional tax payments.
- Prepare tax working papers and supporting documentation.
- Calculate tax refunds and compensations.
- Perform reconciliation of tax-related accounting accounts.
- Maintain accurate records of tax balances pending recovery.
- Review accounting records to ensure accuracy of monthly tax filings.
- Prepare and integrate accounting and tax information requested by the Mexican Tax Administration Service (SAT).
- Record Value Added Tax (VAT) from third-party transactions based on tax receipts (CFDIs).
- Record tax-related journal entries.
- Maintain accounting records of taxes withheld from suppliers.
- Ensure proper application of applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Support and provide information to external auditors and tax authorities as required.
Education/Experience/Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and tax functions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Experience in tax determination and compliance.
- Experience managing tax refund and compensation processes.
- Experience preparing and filing DIOT informational returns.
- Solid understanding of Mexican tax regulations.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- Experience with accounting systems (preferably Innova).
- Knowledge of payroll and social security systems (TRESS preferred).
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.
