What You Can Expect
The Tax Sr Analyst will report to Tax Manager in EMEA and will play a key role in ensuring tax compliance in multiple jurisdictions throughout the Zimmer Biomet organization. This role will be supporting all activities of the Global Tax team, including outsourced indirect tax compliance operations, audit and controversy tasks, accounting tasks, tax forecasting as well as interacting with various business partners and contributing to business initiatives.
How You'll Create Impact
Indirect Tax Compliance:
- Perform data extraction, validation, and processing to enable on time preparation and filing of VAT returns, Intrastat declarations and EC Sales Lists of various Zimmer Biomet group entities.
- Review and approve returns prepared by external service providers, identify and correct errors where required.
- Perform reconciliations for purposes of VAT and Intrastat.
- Proactively maintain and secure a good level of indirect tax knowledge in close collaboration with business partners and controllers.
- Ensure required documentation for VAT evidence purposes is maintained.
VAT Accounting:
- Ensure for various Zimmer Biomet group entities that balances of VAT accounts are accurate, up to date and comply with amounts declared in the VAT returns.
- Arrange and supervise VAT payments for VAT that is owed or claimed back.
Indirect Tax Review & Quality Assurance:
- Perform systematic and regular review of completeness and accuracy of VAT transactions.
- Analyze sufficiency of the supporting documents for input VAT recovery.
- Identify, assess and mitigate any indirect tax risks.
- Perform regular checks and analysis of business processes.
- Evaluate business transactions from indirect tax perspective, ensure correct application of VAT.
- Identify risk-bearing transactions and potential indirect tax savings.
- Advise accounting team on identified errors and ensure accounting entries comply with VAT rules.
- Provide best practices and training to colleagues to improve processes.
- Assist in implementing tax systems and any ad hoc tax related requests.
Assistance during Tax audits:
- Support audits by managing data extracts requested by auditors, answering questions, analyzing findings, and implementing corrective action where necessary.
- Support required responses to tax authorities, internal, and external audits and the incorporation of changes required by VAT return advisory bodies or by law.

Your Background
- Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or similar diploma with specialism in Fiduciary Services, Accounting Firm or Financial Industry
- Strong professional experience in Accounting or Finance with international scope (minimum 2-5 years)
- Several years of expertise in EU indirect taxation, VAT, Customs as well as Compliance
- Solid knowledge of European Intrastat process as well as specifics of indirect tax compliance in EMEA
- Highly proficient in SAP Finance module with solid knowledge of SD and MM modules as well as MS Office
- Good English speaking and writing skills
- German language skills and any other European languages would be a plus
- 2-5 years European Indirect tax experience developed in an international tax or finance environment with good understanding of VAT functional principles;
- Background in accounting with proven experience as accountant or similar;
- Ability to quickly understand and to support integration of tax strategies or changes.
- Ability to be successful in a dynamic environment with multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while working closely with various teams.
- Strong SAP experience with respect to indirect tax processes including tax reporting with in depth knowledge of Intrastat reporting.
- Good Excel knowledge, experience in extracting information or running reports from SAP
