The State’s Attorney’s Office for Charles County (SAO) is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Technical Business Analyst to support the Office’s use of data, technology, and business processes to improve operational efficiency and support data-informed prosecution.
The Technical Business Analyst will serve as a connection between people, processes, data, and technology. This position will evaluate how work is currently performed, identify opportunities for increased efficiency and automation, recommend practical technology solutions, assist with implementing improvements within existing systems and platforms, and conduct statistical analysis of data to generate reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate business processes, workflows, and technology systems to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, automation, and operational improvement.
- Work with staff and leadership to understand business needs, identify problems, and develop practical technology-based solutions.
- Analyze current workflows and translate operational needs into clear business and technical requirements.
- Recommend and assist with the implementation of process improvements, system enhancements, and automated workflows.
- Assist with system configuration, testing, development, integrations, and implementation as appropriate.
- Evaluate and maximize the capabilities of the SAO’s case management, digital evidence, and other technology systems.
- Analyze, extract, and interpret data from SAO systems to support strategic planning, crime reduction efforts, and data-informed decision-making.
- Develop and maintain accurate reports, dashboards, spreadsheets, tables, graphs, maps, and other data visualizations.
- Identify and address data quality, reporting, workflow, and system issues.
- Develop and document processes, procedures, workflows, and best practices.
- Support the implementation of new or enhanced technology, automation, and business processes.
- Work with staff, leadership, vendors, and agency partners on technology and process improvement initiatives.
- Research emerging technologies, automation capabilities, and industry best practices and recommend opportunities that may enhance SAO operations.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business analytics, information systems, computer science, data analytics, mathematics, statistics, economics, business administration, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to evaluate business processes and technology systems and identify opportunities for improvement and automation.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and communicate findings clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to learn and effectively use new software, databases, and technology platforms.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and spreadsheets.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to research problems and implement solutions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive criminal justice information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in business analysis, systems analysis, process improvement, data analysis, or technology implementation.
- Experience with workflow automation, system configuration, and integrations.
- Experience gathering business or technical requirements and documenting workflows or procedures.
- Experience with SQL, databases, data extraction, or data transformation.
- Experience developing dashboards, reports, or data visualizations.
- Experience with case management, digital evidence, or other specialized information systems.
- Familiarity with the criminal justice system or experience working with criminal justice or government data.
Starting Salary: $75,000
