Tooling Analyst

Job Description Summary

The Tooling Analyst partners with the global Sales organization to manage the financial and commercial administration of customer-specific tooling programs. Responsibilities include tracking tooling purchase orders, recovery schedules, invoicing, and customer payments, while proactively identifying risks related to cost, timing, and contractual compliance. By collaborating with Sales, Engineering, Program Management, and Finance, this role ensures tooling costs are accurately quoted, recoverable, and aligned with customer agreements and internal commercial standards, helping maximize profitability throughout the program lifecycle.

Job Description:

Assess Tooling Financial Risk

  • Identify and evaluate risks related to tooling cost overruns, scope changes, timing delays, or non‑recoverable investments, and escalate issues as needed.

Budget / Forecast Rebillable Tooling Collections

  • Coordinate with Finance to prepare the annual 5Y Rebillable Tooling Budget, as well as monthly Rebillable Tooling Forecasts which are published by Corporate Treasury

Coordinate Cross‑Functional Alignment

  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Program Management, Finance, and Purchasing to align tooling assumptions, timelines, and financial expectations.

Ensure Compliance with Customer and Internal Requirements

  • Verify that tooling quotes and agreements comply with OEM or Tier‑1 customer standards, internal governance policies, and audit requirements.

Support Program Launch and Change Management

  • Analyze financial impact of tooling changes during launch, including engineering changes, volume shifts, or customer-driven revisions.

Provide Tooling Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare tooling status reports for Sales and Finance leadership, highlighting exposure, recovery status, and open issues.

Drive Continuous Improvement in Tooling Processes

  • Improve tooling quotation templates, tracking tools, and reporting processes to increase accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.

  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field or 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in automotive finance, sales support, program finance, or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Exposure to tooling management, capital asset tracking, or program financial support is highly desirable
  • Ability to interpret customer tooling terms, payment schedules, and commercial agreements.
  • Strong organizational skills to track tooling investments, customer billing, and recovery milestones.
