The Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) Business Analyst serves as the functional owner of the Company's warehouse management applications, including DCX, CORS, and InfoShip. This role is responsible for analyzing business processes, designing and implementing system solutions, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring warehouse technology supports operational excellence across the distribution network.

 

Working independently, the WMS Business Analyst partners with Distribution Operations, Customer Service, IT, Supply Chain, and third-party vendors to evaluate business requirements, recommend technology solutions, improve operational workflows, and lead system implementations that enhance productivity, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

This position exercises independent judgment in evaluating business needs, establishing system priorities, recommending process improvements, and leading projects that impact warehouse operations.

 

Essential Responsibilities

Business Process Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Serve as the functional business owner for DCX, CORS, and InfoShip across distribution center operations.
  • Analyze warehouse business processes and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and customer service.
  • Evaluate operational metrics, system performance, and workflow data to identify trends and recommend strategic process improvements.
  • Develop business cases and recommendations for system enhancements, automation, and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity while reducing operating costs.

System Configuration & Business Solutions

  • Design, configure, and maintain warehouse system workflows including receiving, put-away, replenishment, inventory control, wave planning, order allocation, picking, packing, shipping, and returns.
  • Evaluate business requirements and determine appropriate system configurations that support operational objectives.
  • Recommend changes to system functionality, workflows, and operational processes based on changing business needs.
  • Oversee testing, validation, and implementation of new system functionality, software upgrades, and operational enhancements.
  • Maintain system configuration standards and governance documentation.

Project Leadership

  • Lead warehouse system implementations, upgrades, and business process improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Distribution Operations, Information Technology, software vendors, and business stakeholders during project planning and execution.
  • Develop project plans, coordinate testing activities, manage implementation timelines, and ensure successful adoption of new functionality.
  • Participate in strategic planning for future warehouse technology initiatives.

Business Partnership

  • Consult with warehouse leadership to understand operational challenges and develop long-term system solutions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding warehouse management system capabilities and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Inventory Control, Transportation, and IT to align technology solutions with business objectives.
  • Manage relationships with software vendors and implementation partners regarding system enhancements and issue resolution.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze warehouse performance data using SQL, reporting tools, and operational dashboards.
  • Develop reporting solutions that provide actionable business insights for warehouse leadership.
  • Monitor key operational metrics and recommend corrective actions to improve overall performance.
  • Validate data integrity between warehouse management systems and integrated business applications.

 

 

Governance & Training

  • Establish and maintain system governance, documentation, and operating standards.
  • Develop standard operating procedures supporting warehouse technology and business processes.
  • Provide guidance and training to supervisors, managers, and designated system users regarding new functionality and best practices.
  • Promote consistent utilization of warehouse systems across all operational areas.

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of experience supporting or administering Warehouse Management Systems in a high-volume distribution environment.
  • Experience configuring and optimizing WMS applications such as DCX, CORS, InfoShip, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, SAP EWM, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations including receiving, inventory management, replenishment, order fulfillment, transportation, and shipping.
  • Experience leading cross-functional business improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex operational problems and develop effective business solutions.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Excel, and business reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent recommendations affecting business operations.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading WMS implementations or major system upgrades.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party software providers.
  • Project Management certification or Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with ERP, EDI, Transportation Management Systems, and warehouse automation technologies.
  • Experience supporting multiple distribution facilities.
