JOB SUMMARY
The Benefits Analyst supports the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of health and welfare benefit programs. This role serves as a key partner to employees, HR, Payroll, HRIS, Finance, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate benefit administration, financial reconciliation, compliance, and a positive employee experience. The analyst identifies opportunities to improve processes, leverage technology, and enhance operational efficiency while supporting the overall goals of the Benefits department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Benefits Administration & Data Management
- Support day-to-day administration of health and welfare benefit programs.
- Review, validate, and process benefits-related data within Workday and supporting systems.
- Analyze benefits data, identify discrepancies, and coordinate resolutions with Payroll, HRIS, vendors, and employees.
- Ensure timely and accurate employee enrollments, eligibility updates, and payroll deduction processing.
Financial Reconciliation & Vendor Management
- Perform recurring reconciliations of vendor invoices, eligibility files, premium billing reports, and participant account activity.
- Support vendor funding activities, including Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions and reimbursement account administration.
- Process payment requests and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and vendor remittance.
- Partner with Accounting, Payroll, and vendors to resolve discrepancies and maintain data integrity.
Employee Support & Issue Resolution
- Respond to employee and HR inquiries regarding benefit programs, eligibility, enrollment, and plan provisions.
- Research, resolve, and escalate complex benefits issues when appropriate.
- Communicate benefits information in a clear, professional, and employee-friendly manner.
Annual Enrollment & Program Delivery
- Support planning, testing, validation, and execution of Annual Enrollment activities.
- Assist with benefit communications and educational materials.
- Participate in post-enrollment audits, reconciliations, and issue resolution activities.
Wellness & Employee Engagement
- Assist with wellness program administration and employee engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to support program communications, presentations, and promotional activities.
Process Improvement & Technology Enablement
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve accuracy, and reduce manual effort.
- Leverage available technology solutions, reporting tools, automation capabilities, and AI-powered resources to improve operational effectiveness.
- Assist in identifying, testing, and implementing automation and AI-enabled solutions that improve benefits-related systems and processes, driving greater efficiency, accuracy, and enhance the employee experience.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in health and welfare benefits administration.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of health and welfare benefit plan designs, regulations (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA), and industry best practices.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (intermediate to advanced level for data analysis).
- Experience working with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle) strongly preferred.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, reconciling benefit-related financial data, and analyzing large datasets preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex benefit information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently as part of a team and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to leverage technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve process efficiency, data accuracy, reporting, employee communications, and overall service delivery.
