Content liability
We are not responsible for content that appears on your website. You agree to protect us against any claims arising on your website. No link should appear that may be interpreted as libelous, obscene, or otherwise unlawful.
Privacy
We collect the email and password you provide on sign-up, the interview answers you submit during onboarding, and the resume file you upload. Your resume is stored in a private bucket scoped to your account; we never share it. We use Supabase for storage and authentication, Anthropic Claude for resume parsing, and PostHog for product analytics (only when configured).
Your LinkedIn connections
If you add the Connections.csv from LinkedIn’s own data download, your browser reads it and sends us each connection’s name, profile link, company, position and the date you connected, never the email addresses in the file. We use them only to show you who you know at a company, on our pages and to an assistant you connect. Only you see them, we never contact anyone, and adding a new file replaces the old one. Remove them any time from your profile.
Chat and the copilot
When you use chat, your message, the job data needed to answer it, and — if you are signed in — your interview answers are sent to Anthropic to generate a reply. The application copilot sends more: the profile and resume summary it needs to draft on your behalf. We do not store your chat history on our servers; a conversation lives in your browser tab and is gone when you close it. Our MCP endpoint serves public job data without an account and keeps no queries. If you sign in through an assistant, the assistant can read and change your own account (saved jobs, searches, applications, preferences and alerts) only when you ask it to, can read your full profile only if you have shared it with that assistant on your profile page, and can send an application to an employer only after you confirm the exact application it will send. We record which tool was called and by which assistant, never what you asked or typed. Searches you deliberately save are covered below.
The Chrome extension
The extension reads the address of the tab you have open, and only on the job sites you allow it (the hiring sites employers post on, such as Workday, Greenhouse, iCIMS and Lever, plus any other site you open it on or allow when you ask it to fill a form there), to look that posting up in our records. If you allow LinkedIn and Indeed, it reads the company, title and location of the posting you have open there, and of the search results on your screen, plus the employer’s own address for the open posting when the site links to it, sends those to us to find our record of each, and shows that record beside the title or on the result, or which hiring site the employer posts it on when we have none. When we have none, we keep that address and the company name, with nothing about you, so we can start following that employer’s hiring site. It also reads the site’s own posted date and applicant count to compare with our record, without sending them. It reads nothing else on those sites, never opens pages or results you haven’t, and sends nothing about you. None of this happens until you allow LinkedIn and Indeed, you can turn it off in the extension’s panel at any time, and we can turn it off for everyone. If you sign in, it can save postings, add them to your application tracker when you say you applied or, on its own, when, within half an hour of you pressing submit on an application on a job site you allowed, that tab shows the employer’s confirmation (it reads only that page’s title and headings, for words like “Thank you for applying”), and, when you ask, fill in an application form from the contact details, address, links, work authorisation, demographic answers and resume in your profile. It shows you every value first and fills only the ones you leave ticked. Demographic answers (gender, race or ethnicity, veteran and disability status) are only ever the ones you chose. The extension saves them to your profile only after you say yes to saving: when you tap one in the extension and then say yes, or answer one on an application form and confirm it in the extension afterwards. It only fills answers your profile doesn’t have yet. You can change them, or delete them all with one button, on your profile at any time; our consumer health data policy says more. The extension never fills in or sends applications on LinkedIn or Indeed. When you ask it to draft an answer or check your fit, or use its assistant, the question, the posting and a summary of your profile (your name, city, links, experience, education and the summary and skills from your resume, never your email, phone, address, demographic answers or work authorisation) go to Anthropic’s Claude to write the draft, the same as the copilot on our job pages; your contact details, address, work authorisation and demographic answers are placed into the form by the extension and are never shown to the model. Answers you write on application forms are remembered only in your browser, so you can reuse them. It never submits an application, never shows your demographic answers to an AI model, and keeps nothing about the pages you visit. Profile data it fetches is used only to fill the form in front of you and is never sold or shared. Sign out in the extension, or disconnect it from your profile, to stop it.
Analytics
When analytics is configured we record page views and a small set of named product events — that a resume was uploaded (its size and file type, never its contents), that onboarding finished, that the copilot was used, that an application was submitted. Automatic capture and session recording are both switched off, and we strip the text you type into the search boxes out of the page addresses we record, so your searches are not stored in analytics. None of it is linked to your account.
Where job postings come from
Jobs are collected from employers' own public career systems, and a few reach us through the National Labor Exchange where an employer's own site is closed to us; the job page says which. The posting history we show — when we first saw a posting and how many times we have since found it still up — is our own observation of a public posting. The employer's own claimed posting date is shown separately and labelled as theirs. If something there looks wrong, write to corrections@waitwhatdoyoudo.com and we will look into it.
When you apply
Submitting an application sends what the employer's hiring system asks for — your contact details, your answers to their questions, and your resume — directly to that system (Greenhouse, Recruitee and similar). That is what applying is, but it means your details leave us and are then handled under the employer's own privacy terms, not ours.
Watched searches
If you watch a search we keep the wording of it so we can re-run it for you, and you can delete a watched search from Updates at any time.
We email you only for things you ask for: a sign-in link when you request one, and password or account messages. We do not currently send marketing email.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account data until you remove it. On your profile's Account tab you can download a copy of what we hold, or delete your account and everything attached to it: your profile, uploaded resume and the parsed copy we cache, saved jobs, watched searches, applications and assistant access. You can also email privacy@waitwhatdoyoudo.com and we will do it for you.
Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude all representations, warranties, and conditions relating to our website. We do not warrant that the site is correct, complete, or available, and we will not be liable for any loss or damage of any nature arising from its use.
Removal
If you find any link or content on the site that you would like removed, contact us. We consider all removal requests but are not obligated to fulfill them.
