Use the board from your assistant.

Ask Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant for data jobs and get our jobs, our record of each posting and employers' hiring records, shown as cards right in the conversation.

Connect

Add this address to your assistant:

https://waitwhatdoyoudo.com/api/mcp

It's free. Searching needs no account. The first time you ask about your own matches or applications, your assistant asks you to sign in here.

Claude
In Settings, open Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste the address. Claude handles sign-in on its own.
ChatGPT
Turn on developer mode in ChatGPT's settings, then create an app with the address. Choose OAuth for authentication so ChatGPT can sign you in.
Claude Code
Run this in a terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http waitwhatdoyoudo https://waitwhatdoyoudo.com/api/mcp
Cursor and other editors
Add the server to your mcp.json:
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "waitwhatdoyoudo": {
      "url": "https://waitwhatdoyoudo.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
Grok and others
Add the address as a remote MCP server. Assistants that can't show cards get the same answers as text with links.

Things to ask

  • “Find remote analytics engineer jobs that use dbt”
  • “Is that data engineer role still listed, and since when?”
  • “How is Datadog hiring for data roles right now?”
  • “Which new jobs fit me best this week?”
  • “Watch remote dbt roles for me”
  • “Draft my application for that role”

Results show as cards you can page through. Each card links to the job or employer page here, which is where you apply.

What it can do

Without an account

These only read public job data.

Search jobs
search_jobs
Find open data and AI roles by title, kind of role, tools, place or remote.
Get job
get_job
Open one posting: what it pays, where it is, what you'd do, and our record of when it went up and whether it's still listed.
Get company
get_company
See an employer's open data roles and how they hire: how many are open, how many are new, and how long roles stay open.
List role categories
list_categories
Explain the kinds of role we sort jobs into, by the work rather than the title.
Check a job
verify_job
Check a job link from anywhere, LinkedIn and Indeed included: whether the employer still lists it, when we first saw it and how often it was reposted.
Get salaries
get_salaries
Say what data roles pay, from the pay employers stated in their postings: for a role across the US, in a US city, or at one employer against the market.

Save a resume version
save_resume
Save a resume version you asked for and checked, such as one tailored to a job, without touching the resume you uploaded.
Review an application
review_application
Show you an application exactly as it would be sent, every answer and the resume file, where the employer takes applications through this site.
Submit an application
submit_application
Send that application, only after you've checked it and said yes.
Prepare for an interview
prepare_interview
Build an interview prep pack for an application you're interviewing for, from the role and your own experience, and keep it on that application.

What it won't do

It never sends an application you haven't checked and said yes to, and sends one posting at a time. You answer legal, consent, demographic and work-authorisation questions yourself, and your assistant never sees your resume file. Drafts are written from your profile on our side. It covers data and AI roles only. Dates are our own record of each posting, as explained in how we count.

For developers

The server speaks MCP over streamable HTTP at the address above. The public tools need no key or account and return structured results with an output schema, plus the same answer as Markdown for clients that only read text. The same jobs are open to crawlers and feed readers:

Privacy and support

We keep no record of your questions and never see your conversation; your assistant sends only the search or lookup it wants to run. Our terms and privacy policy cover the rest. Privacy questions go to privacy@waitwhatdoyoudo.com; anything that looks wrong in the results goes to corrections@waitwhatdoyoudo.com.
